Miami Football: Hurricanes Look Awful in Loss to Virginia

I have defended the Miami Hurricanes almost every game this year.

After poor performances against Duke, Ohio State and Florida State, I commended them on their stout defense.  I even went as far as stating that they still can run the table and play for the ACC Championship.

The way they played against the Virginia Cavaliers, though, I am just hoping they get another win to be bowl eligible.

Virginia came into the game losers of nine straight conference games, including a 44-10 loss to UNC (who Miami beat 33-10 last week).

Yet against a poor team such as Virginia, Miami's offense through three quarters was shut out.  That's right, shut out against the 71st total defense in the country.

The play-calling, the dropped passes, the poor passes from three different quarterbacks, and the penalties killed Miami once again.

Even the only reliable part of the team failed all game long: the offensive line.

Jacory Harris got hurt in the second quarter, and it honestly didn't make much of a difference, as he looked lost the entire first half...again.

The dead-arm ducks that he throws to his receivers are downright embarrassing.  I stood up for this kid—now I would rather him sit the bench.  He is not a Division I quarterback.

Let true freshman Stephen Morris complete the season.  Although Morris threw two interceptions, under the circumstances, he played great.

He can actually run, his confidence seems good and he can really zip it in there, as opposed to the lobs Harris and Spencer Whipple have tossed.

But no matter how you cut it, Miami's lack of offense against a bad team really set these guys back a few more steps.

Everyone is to blame, just not Harris.  Randy Shannon and Mark Whipple need to figure out something fast, or Miami will have to find people who can.

Ridiculous.
