Eli Manning to Be a Father: Projecting the QB Development of Baby Manning
It's official: Eli Manning is going to be a father.
According to a report in the New York Post, the Giants quarterback and his wife, Abby, are expecting their first child in the spring. Sources close to the couple say that they're extremely excited for their first child.
However, given the Manning pedigree (Archie, Eli and Peyton's father, was a quarterback in the NFL for 13 years; Peyton is Peyton; Eli's not too bad himself; and oldest brother Cooper might have been the best of the bunch were it not for the spinal stenosis), there's a question that needs to be asked:
What is the newest Manning's quarterback future?
Let's project what the youngster's career will look like.
Age 2: Developing Arm Strength
1 of 10
You've got to start building arm strength at an early age if you want to make it to the NFL. Also, Lane Kiffin offers the youngster a scholarship to play for USC in 16 years.
Age 3: Analyzing Film
2 of 10
In between Barney sessions, Eli's son is going to be breaking down game film and figuring out how to beat the 3-4 defense. Nick Saban will drop by to offer him a scholarship and the promise of all the Cheerios he can eat.
Age 6: Practicing Footwork
3 of 10
By this point, the boys and Archie will start working on the kid's footwork, making sure he knows how to take a four-step drop.
Butch Davis will stop by and leave two cards, one for him and one for this fantastic agent he knows.
Age 7: QB Camp with Grandpa
4 of 10
Eventually, Grandpa Archie will have had enough and will take the kid under his wing for a summer to teach him how not to throw the ball like his father.
ESPN RISE will list him as the best prospect under the age of 10 of all-time.
Age 8: Pop Warner Debut
5 of 10
Baby Manning makes his Pop Warner debut at age eight, throwing 12 touchdown passes in two quarters of work. However, his coach benches him for banishing one of his wide receivers to the Port-a-Potty and knocking another one out with a pass, a move he picked up from Uncle Peyton.
Age 10: QB Camp with Dad
6 of 10
Big deal, you say; lots of kids go to quarterback camp with a big-name football player.
That's true, but how many of them go and coach?
Also at age 10, baby Manning receives a Porsche from a booster, who says he can have as many of those as he wants if he comes to Texas.
However, it's revealed that the youngster is leaning towards Florida after he's promised thousands of Pokemon cards.
Age 12: Finally Gets to Play at Thanksgiving
7 of 10
After years of begging, the older generation finally allows Eli's son to play in the family's annual Thanksgiving game.
As is typically the case, Peyton and Eli quit because the dog ran the wrong route (it was supposed to be a slant!), and baby Manning winds up getting bored and watching the Lions lose in the living room.
Mel Kiper, Jr., calls baby Manning the best middle school prospect of all time and puts him at the top of his 2032 Big Board.
Age 15: High School Debut
8 of 10
Baby Manning starts his freshman year at Isadore Newman High School, the same school his father and uncles attended.
He leads Newman to a state title his freshman year and immediately gets calls from every college coach in the nation, including Nick Saban, who tells him the Cheerios are still on the table if he's interested.
Age 18: The Decision
9 of 10
In a nationally-televised press conference entitled "The Choice," baby Manning elects to play for Ole Miss like his father and grandfather did.
Thrilled, the city of Oxford announces plans to erect a 12-foot-tall bronze statue of baby Manning outside the stadium.
Simultaneously, it's revealed that the Detroit Lions picked baby Manning first overall in that year's NFL Draft, petitioning the league to let them sign the 18-year-old quarterback despite the age requirements. Despite the fact that he can't play in the NFL yet, baby Manning announces he's holding out until the Lions trade him to a team that's capable of winning a Super Bowl.
Age 21: The NFL Draft
10 of 10
After leading the Rebels to three national titles in three seasons, baby Manning declares for the NFL Draft. Mel Kiper, Jr., and Todd McShay get into a fist-fight over whether he has better mechanics or pocket presence.
NFL commissioner Ray Lewis announces that the Buffalo Bills have selected baby Manning with the first pick. Bills fans celebrate in the streets, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame announces Manning is a first-ballot entrant.
