NFL Week 8 Predictions: Can the Colts Score Revenge in Rematch with Texans?
NFL Week 8 predictions are the topic of my latest article.
Taking a look at the schedule was a revelation into the possibilities that Week 8 will bring. There will be upsets and for once, home cooking will not matter. There are too many good teams going on the road this week for the home crowd to even make a difference.
I know I am excited to hit the couch on Sunday, so here is my look at how things will shake up this weekend.
Washington Redskins at Detroit Lions
1 of 13
As of press time, Matthew Stafford is all set to return to the helm of the Detroit Lions offense. He couldn't have come back in a more perfect scenario.
Sunday is a home game against an abysmal pass defense. Couple that with the break-out year Jahvid Best is having and I have a good feeling that an upset is looming in Detroit.
Redskins 17, Lions 24
Jacksonville Jaguars at Dallas Cowboys
2 of 13
The Cowboys look bad. They look lost. But the Jaguars look even worse. That is the only consolation that the Cowboys have going into Sunday.
Try as they might, the Cowboys have to win this one. Even with Jon Kitna at QB they have to win this one. There is no way they don't. Right?
Yeah, I'm picking them but don't bet your savings on it.
Jaguars 14, Cowboys 17
Miami Dolphins at Cincinnati Bengals
3 of 13
The Bengals are just too inconsistent of a team to bet on this week.
They face a much more grounded and efficient running game in the Dolphins. Couple that with the production that Chad Henne and Brandon Marshall are putting up, and you have a recipe for success.
Look for another loss for the Bengals this weekend.
Dolphins 24, Bengals 17
Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs
4 of 13
Here is my upset game of the week. The Bills have much too good of an offense to lose every game. Ryan Fitzpatrick is the best quarterback that no one has heard of. He deserves a win and so do the good people of Buffalo.
The Chiefs are not looking like the great team they were at the start of the season. They were served losses by the Texans and the Colts, both of which have great starting quarterbacks.
Bills 31, Chiefs 24
Carolina Panthers at St. Louis Rams
5 of 13
The Rams do not play well often. When they do, it is at home.
While the Panthers are a horrible team, they do have a pretty good passing offense. They just can't stop the run.
Look for a big game from Steven Jackson.
Panthers 10, Rams 20
Denver Broncos at San Francisco 49ers
6 of 13
There is no telling how the trip to London or playing in Wembley will treat either team.
What I do know is that the 49ers are reeling right about now and they have to go with Troy Smith at QB as Alex Smith is injured.
Playing an away game is tough enough. I look for the seasoned Kyle Orton to get the advantage here.
Broncos 27, 49ers 17
Green Bay Packers at New York Jets
7 of 13
The Jets are good. Every week they get better and healthier. This week will be no different.
The usually steady Aaron Rodgers will suffer from the Jets defense. With his receivers being well covered all day, his offensive line will be susceptible.
Look for a beaten and battered Rodgers on the turf all day.
Packers 14, Jets 21
Tennessee Titans at San Diego Chargers
8 of 13
Here is a lopsided matchup if I ever saw one.
The Chargers are done for the season. Even if they get close to a win their special teams would give it away.
This week they play one of the best teams in the NFL. I don't see how this goes their way, even if Kerry Collins has to take the reigns again.
Titans 31, Chargers 17
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Arizona Cardinals
9 of 13
It is clear that the Cardinals cannot guard the pass. Couple that with issues they are having on the offensive side of the ball and you have the ingredients for a home loss.
Josh Freeman should be able to mount enough offense to quiet anything the Cardinals can put up.
Buccaneers 17, Cardinals 14
Minnesota Vikings at New England Patriots
10 of 13
The Patriots are a well oiled machine. They have one of the toughest rushing defenses to go along with their steadfast quarterback. They may lack a plan to stop most passing games, but they won't need one this week.
The Vikings still do no have a quarterback. They have one of two undesirable choices. Throw the inexperienced Tarvaris Jackson or the over the hill Brett Favre.
Pats win.
Vikings 13, Patriots 24
Seattle Seahawks at Oakland Raiders
11 of 13
The Raiders are an enigma wrapped in a Rubik's Cube.
One week, Jason Campbell is throwing for 80 yards, and the next they are putting up over 50 points to a division rival. I do know that the Raiders hate when teams can run.
The Seahawks have a two-headed monster in Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett. This one will shift to the Seahawks.
Seahawks 21, Raiders 14
Pittsburgh Steelers at New Orleans Saints
12 of 13
The Saints are too bipolar for me to buy in that they will win a big game this time of year. It was clear in their embarrassing loss to the Browns that they are not right. Whether they are missing the versatility of Reggie Bush or if it is something different all together, there is no reason to pick them this week.
They are facing the hottest team in the NFL. They can kill you on either side of the ball and with various weapons. Keep in mind that Big Ben is just warming up.
Steelers 24, Saints 17
Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts
13 of 13
Well here is the rematch from Week 1.
The first week saw a great game from Peyton Manning get overshadowed by Arian Foster. The Texans running back killed the Colts with three touchdowns.
Since that time, the Colts have not figured out a way to stop the running game. But Manning has a way of showing magic on Monday Nights.
Here is me playing a hunch.
