Ronaldo and the 10 Worst Free Kick Fails
There is almost nothing like a perfectly executed free kick. Everyone in the stadium is staring at you, everyone at home is hoping you will pull through for them.
The environment itself lends to the extreme level of emotion it can bring on, both good and bad. However I personally love when a player throws in a wrench and just completely goes where no one expected, gaining at least a laugh for his dubious efforts.
Here I present to you some of my favorite all time free kick fails...
10. Ronaldo
1 of 10Ronaldo is one of the greatest players ever in the sport. Nothing less than eight surgeries failed to keep him off the pitch.
He has again overcome long odds in his latest attempt to return to the sport with Corinthians, and last season he was a main factor in the team taking home two out of three trophies it competed for that season.
However this is not one of those proud moments for him.
9. Stuart Elliot
2 of 10In this match for Hull City versus Middlesborough in the FA Cup, Stuart Elliot lined up for what seemed to be a great free kick opportunity.
You have to admit that it isn't easy to kick a ball towards the goal, 20 or so yards away and have it go out for a throw in 50 odd yards away.
8. The Anti Kick
3 of 10I don't know where this is from or who it is, but what I do know is that this is very embarrassing,
7. Zaire
4 of 10This was the first time Zaire qualified for a World Cup and after losing their second match 9-0, the players were told by those close to their then dictator Mobutu Sese Sekos that if they lost to Brazil by more than three goals they were to be severally dealt with.
I guess the pressure got to be too much. This isn't even something you see on a field of three year olds playing.
6. Bida
5 of 10Bida managed to pull this off during a match in northern Brazil while playing for EC Vitoria against Nautico.
5. Kleber
6 of 10During a match earlier this season between Corinthians and Internacional, Kleber had a great chance to score from a very close free kick just outside of the box.
Just make sure you don't do it again this December in the FIFA Club World Cup.
4. Bechara e Igor
7 of 10Bechara and Igor were both playing for Fortaleza when this happened, it isn't much to wonder how they have remained out of Brazil's top division for so long.
It wasn't bad enough for the two players to kick each other, Igor had to get hurt badly in the process.
I like the commentator who instantly says he can't leave soccer because clearly he hasn't seen everything.
3. Japanese High School
8 of 10From what I've gathered, this is from a high school game in Japan. I'm not sure if that is really true or if the player is spreading that rumor so he doesn't look like a horrible professional athlete.
2. Sakaliev Yanev
9 of 10It took me a little while to figure out how this all came together, I don't want to spoil it for you so I won't say much.
1. James Beattie
10 of 10I believe if this had gone in it would be the greatest goal ever.
