Fantasy Football Start'em, Sit'em: Week 7

Here’s some sit and start advice as you set your lineups for Week 7 of the NFL season.

Quarterbacks

Start:

Brett Favre, Minnesota Vikings

Aside from that stretch against the Jets, Favre has not looked like himself this year. He is a player that feeds on motivation, so I don’t think it will take much to get him up for his return to Lambeau Field. He had seven TDs against the Packers last year.

Sit:

Donovan McNabb, Washington Redskins

McNabb hasn’t actually overwhelmed this season with just five TDs & five INTs on the year. He’s had a couple of games with 350+ passing yards, but has also been held below 250 yards four times. He has yet to have a multi-TD game. He’s facing the Bears, who are tied for first with the fewest (3) passing TDs allowed.

Running Backs

Start:

Knowshon Moreno, Denver Broncos

Knowshon is rounding into shape. Last week, he had 48 yards on 12 carries against the Jets. This week, it’s a much easier test as he takes on Oakland’s 30th ranked run defense. They are allowing 149.5 yards per game on the ground.

Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks

Lynch showed that he is the favorite to be the primary ball carrier after having 17 rushing attempts to Justin Forsett’s ten. He struggled to get traction against the Bears’ stingy run defense, but managed to score. Life should be easier this week against Arizona’s 29th ranked run defense (140.8 rushing yards allowed per game).

Sit:

Ronnie Brown & Ricky Williams, Miami Dolphins

The dynamic duo typically can be trusted in fantasy lineups as an RB2 (Ronnie) or a flex player (Ricky). This week, however, Ronnie falls to flex at best, while Ricky should be left on your bench as they take on Pittsburgh’s top-ranked run defense. They are allowing just 63.8 rushing yards per game.

Wide Receivers

Start:

Roy Williams, Dallas Cowboys

The ‘Boys keep finding ways to beat themselves, but Roy has been impressive in his last three games. He has five TDs over that span, while averaging 77.3 yards per game.

Robert Meachem, New Orleans Saints

After a slow start, Meachem seems to have hit his stride. He has scored in his past two games, while averaging four receptions for 64 yards. He faces a Browns pass defense that has allowed 11 passing TDs.

Sit:

Mike Sims-Walker, Jacksonville Jaguars

MSW has not played well this year, and going up against shutdown corner Brandon Flowers won’t help matters.

Chad Ochocino, Cincinnati Bengals

Since starting off the season with 12 catches for 159 yards and a score, Ocho has averaged 3.5 catches for 39.3 yards. With production like that, he should be more concentrated on getting his game back than adding followers to his Twitter account.

Tight Ends

Start:

Kellen Winslow, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Winslow has not scored yet this season. He has more games (3) with fewer than 45 yards than he has with 45+ yards (2). This week, however, he draws St. Louis, and should be a fantasy factor once again.

Sit:

Visanthe Shiancoe, Minnesota Vikings

Shiancoe didn’t even have a ball thrown his way last week. Until the Vikings work him back into the offense, I have lost my faith in the talented TE.

Kickers

Start:

Robbie Gould, Chicago Bears

Gould has 12 FGs on the year. He plays the Redskins, who have allowed 12 FGs.

Sit:

Garrett Hartley, New Orleans Saints

He will probably be a popular play this week because he is facing the Browns, but his inability to knock down short FGs scares me. I can see Sean Payton opting not to kick FGs and instead go for it on fourth down or try to pin the Browns back with a punt if Hartley misses early.

Defenses

Start:

Seattle Seahawks

Max Hall did make the Cardinals look better, but they are still a work in progress. The Seahawks are tied for sixth with 17 sacks.

Sit:

Tennessee Titans

The Titans lead the league with 24 sacks and are tied for second with 10 INTs. This week, however, they are playing the Eagles, and may not be your best option.
