Les Miles: Could There Be a Stroke Of Genius In His Strage Ways?

I have been an advocate on how Les Miles is a fool and is the luckiest coach in football. However I saw something in the Florida game that is making me think twice. Remember in the last minute his time management seemed off. However, I believe it was a stroke of genius.

The Mad Hatter completely sold the field goal by letting the clock run. If he had called a timeout the Florida defense would be aware of a fake field goal attempt. Who calls a timeout before they kick a field goal to tie the game when all you’re going to do is give the other team a chance to score. So by letting the time run, he made everyone think that he was going for the tie and didn’t want to leave time on the clock. It wasn’t a mistake, he didn’t change his mind… the timeout was planned from the get go to leave them just enough time to still sell the field goal but keep some time on the clock for them to go for the win. I have tried to go back and see if Les Miles is an Idiot Savant with time clock management.

If he is a genius though, why does he act so stupid? Even after the Florida-LSU game a reporter asked him about being called the Mad Hatter. He said something to the effect of I don’t know if it’s because I wear a hat and I’m mad? 

Come on…

Unless he wants the rest of the world to think he is crazy so they will under estimate them. Unfortunately, unless he lets his fans and boosters in on his little secret, they may pressure the university to find someone a little more down to earth.

All these situations keep working out for him in the end, but sometimes they don’t. If LSU could have pulled off the first play goal line play against Tennessee,  it would have left no time on the clock with the score, however  it didn’t work out but they got another shot. That is luck… He is just not playing it safe. I cannot explain the spike call last year, so I know he is not a genius all the way around, but he could have a new edge on time management. Under further review, I cannot determine either way, it is up to yall to be your own judge.
