NFL Frankenstein, Building the Perfect Player: Defensive Line Edition

Ricky FrechOct 12, 2010

Today we continue the week long series, NFL Frankenstein, with the monster whose job it is to dominate yesterday's player, the defensive lineman. This monster of the midway will use a perfect blend of speed, strength, intelligence, and technique to dominate the opposing teams offensive line. He will be the ultimate mixture of run-stuffing and pass-rushing the NFL has ever seen. So, without further delay, I present the ultimate defensive lineman.

Brain—Kevin Williams

The better half of the Williams Wall might just be the best defensive tackle in the league and he has the ability to stop the run and rush the quarterback with equal ability. His ability to be recognize blocking schemes from years of playing against double and triple teams will be invaluable to the player we're building. This veteran mind will use all the new body parts he's given to destroy running backs in the hole and light up quarterbacks.

Mouth—Shaun Ellis

If there's one thing the Jets can do it's talk...the other thing they can do is back it up. Ellis is no exception and plays a mean game, even at age 33. His veteran leadership will bring our defense a great ability to communicate what the offense is doing. Plus, he's got to be able to talk some trash after hanging out with Derrelle Revis and Rex Ryan.

Heart—Jared Allen

In his entire career it can never be said that Allen didn't leave everything he had on the field. And he has a lot as you can tell from the level of intensity he brings, even in the fourth quarter. With Allen's heart our monster will never quit on the play and, since he'll be so dominant that will result in even more big plays for our defender.

Suh has a prototype body for the defensive line and, since we're looking to build the perfect player his body will be perfect for our monster. At 6'4 307 pounds his frame will be a perfect center point for the rest of the body parts we'll add and help give them all amazing core strength.

Arms—Mario Williams

Standing tall at 6'7 Williams has a gigantic wingspan that engulfs quarterbacks with ease. Adding his albatross like arms to the mix give our player the huge arms that will keep offensive lineman off of him and let him swat down passes like flies. Not only that, but he will be able to hold down his side of the field and make tackles that other players can't simply because his arms basically take up the entire field.

Hands—Justin Tuck

Tuck has the outstanding ability to get low and use his leverage and great hand work to stay off blocks. His technique in combination to Mario Williams' arms will make it to where no one will be able to get a clean block on our monster. When he steps on the field he will destroy offensive lineman and get to the quarterback at will.

Legs—Julius Peppers

Peppers is a freakish athlete in the mold of Jevon Krease and has been using his athleticism to dominate any blocking scheme thrown his way. If you need an example of this look no further than his interception this past weekend against the Panthers. Not many 290 athletes could jump that high to block a pass and then have the ability to stay with the ball and get the INT. With Peppers ultra-athletic legs powering our monsters frame it will be next to impossible for him to be stopped.

Feet—Dwight Freeney

Dwight Freeney has been clocked at 4.42 when running the 40 yard dash. That is incredible for a defensive lineman and he combines that speed with great footwork, which is best shown  in his famous spin move. With this speed and moves at our monster's disposal he be unstoppable on the football field. So, there you have it, our ultimate defensive end. Did I leave out any players you think deserve a nod? If so tell me about it in the comments.
