Fantasy Football Week 6: Mardy Gilyard and Five Trendy Pickups

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
• Todd Collins threw four INTs and BEAT Carolina.
• The Lions won their first game, smacking around the Rams 44-6.
• And if all of this wasn’t enough, Week 5 was capped off with San Diego Chargers receiver Malcom Floyd torching the Oakland Raiders’ 10th-ranked passing defense for 213 yards on eight catches and a TD...in a loss!
It’s OK—right about now just about everyone is wondering if we all space-warped into Bizarro World.
Heading into Week 6, many owners are still dealing with either old injuries to their players or some of the new wounds that have afflicted some key fantasy players, such as TE Jermichael Finley (out three to six weeks) and WR Mark Clayton (season-ending injury).
One player to take notice of is Rams WR Mardy Gilyard, who is bound to split the No. 1 duties with fellow WR Danny Amendola but will be easier to grab than Amendola.
Let’s delve into some of the biggest trending players for this week’s matchups.
RB/KR, Stefan Logan, Lions
I scoff at all of the advice-guys that laugh at players who are kick return guys only, saying they have no worth. Players such as this Logan and even Tennessee’s Marc Mariani are changing the way fantasy football is being managed.
Obviously you have to actually get points for these sorts of players in your league.
Logan has been a beast, grabbing double-digit points in every week except Week 1 (ESPN scoring), and he is a great complementary player to fill a roster spot that is either empty or lacking.
Logan has a near one percent ownership in all formats.
S, Husain Abdullah, Vikings
Looking for a safety to add to your roster that is as consistent as they come?
That is something not typically found in fantasy football safeties.
Abdullah has been as rock solid as they come, and is literally unowned in all formats. He gets a ton of work, which bodes well for fantasy points, and is now a mainstay in the Vikings D.
If you are looking to replace an underperforming S or for a nice plug-in for an injury, Abdullah is definitely your guy.
WR, Anthony Armstrong, Redskins
Armstrong was an interesting character coming into this year in that he was looked at as a player who would eventually do something, but when was the big question.
Now, he has not only become the new WR2 in Washington, he is fast maturing into a viable deep threat target for Donovan McNabb.
Through four games, Armstrong has hauled in seven passes for 188 yards and a single score, but don’t be fooled by his numbers—they don’t tell the whole story.
Armstrong is unowned in all formats but needs to be owned now before his stock begins to rise.
TE, Andrew Quarless, Packers
Jermichael Finley could miss up to six weeks, Donald Lee is also out of the picture, and QB Aaron Rodgers could miss this week with a slight concussion.
In addition to the aforementioned, the Miami Dolphins and their fourth-ranked passing defense come to Lambeau to face the beat-up Packers, but that fourth-ranked defense is a bit misleading when talking about TEs.
That’s because the Dolphins can’t seem to stop TEs.
The Packers have a hard time running the ball and will have more problems facing these guys, making Quarless a fine pickup for about a month or more. He’s tall, athletic, and virtually unowned.
Good luck this week everyone, and don’t forget to take a look at this week’s WK 6 WR Start Sit column.
