BCS Standings 2010: What Are the Chances For A Boise State-TCU Title Matchup?
The Boise State Broncos haven't lost a game since December 23, 2008.
The Texas Christian Horned Frogs last defeat came in the Fiesta Bowl last season.
Both teams' last loss was delivered by the other.
Ohio State and Oregon are currently ahead of Boise State and TCU in the polls. The Buckeyes and the Ducks both have challenging, but doable schedules the rest of the way.
Ohio State must go through Wisconsin, Penn State, Iowa, and Michigan. Oregon has to face UCLA, USC, Arizona, and Oregon State.
Even if Boise State and TCU win out, Ohio State and Oregon lose, whoever boasts the SEC or Big-12 title can leap frog the non-BCS schools into the National Championship game.
So, what are the chances that the two Cinderella teams square off against one another for the all the marbles?
The opposition to the two teams receiving the bids will say that they each play inferior competition and don't have the resume to play for the title.
The answer to the haters: Boise State and TCU may play in less competitive conferences, but both teams have the exact same number of Top 25 schools on their schedule as Ohio State and Oregon.
Boise State beat No. 10 Virginia Tech and No. 24 Oregon State while still having to play No. 19 Nevada.
TCU defeated Oregon State as well, and has No. 23 Air Force and No. 11 Utah left to face.
Boise State-TCU Title Odds:
One to a........a ton.
Ohio State is playing in full beast mode right now and Oregon claims the highest scoring offense in the nation.
Again, whoever wins between Nebraska and Oklahoma would most likely catapult the other to a national championship birth if Ohio State or Oregon were to lose. Also never count out the winner of the SEC Championship as that title holds unrivaled weight.
When it all comes down to it, Boise State and TCU deserve to play for the title, and no one in their right mind can dispute that.
No matter who the two schools beat in their non-conference schedules, the fact that they don't play in a BCS conference will keep them out of the championship game.
Coaches may respect the two schools, but they will never believe they deserve to get in more than the victor of a power house conference.
Boise State-TCU would not only be a fun game to watch, but a historic one.
Too bad it will never happen with the BCS in place.
