Boise State Sitting Idly By, Waiting for Teams To Lose
While Boise State was hammering Toledo for its fifth win this season, the Alabama Crimson Tide was left facing a solid South Carolina squad.
On the road.
With Alabama already facing two opponents as good or better than Boise State will see on their entire schedule, they couldn't limp into Columbia, SC and expect a win, much less a blowout.
Already having faced Penn State and Florida, the Tide had to play South Carolina on the road. It doesn't get any easier for them either, as they have yet to face undefeated teams Auburn and LSU.
Boise State?
They get to play @ San Jose State, Louisiana Tech, Hawaii, @ Idaho, Fresno State, @ Nevada, and Utah State.
Nice.
While Boise State defeated solid teams in Virginia Tech (last minute drive) and Oregon State, they have nobody else to play. And no, Nevada and Fresno State are not Auburn or LSU.
While BCS schools will be playing a grinding schedule against other BCS schools for the rest of the season, Boise State sits idly by, biding their time with huge wins over opponents that BCS teams are laughed at for playing in their non-conference schedule.
While Boise State is a nice story, it isn't complete.
Sadly, for most BCS league fans, we'll have to hear their cry over the next two months while our teams play respectable schedules and Boise State plays a bunch of teams we juice up on in non-conference to get ready for conference play.
Boise State plays "those" guys in their "conference" season.
Why does Boise State get a pass? They beat two average BCS teams and are all of a sudden contenders?
While they "claim" that nobody wants to play them, they are asking for "rules" that nobody (BCS schools) in their right mind wants to play with. You aren't a home and home team. Ever.
Get on the road Boise. Play four BCS teams in your non-conference. Back-to-back road games in BCS level competition are tough. You don't deal with that, and you should. Road games in conference are tough. You have no knowledge about how tough that is, so earn it.
Play somebody each and every week after October 1. Thankfully, these pretenders will play in the MWC next year, which isn't a great football conference but infinitely better than the WAC.
Why do people not respect Boise State?
We saw it last night in Columbia, SC. An Alabama team as good or better than any team in the country had to play Florida one week, and then face a solid South Carolina team the next.
All the while, Boise State was playing New Mexico State and Toledo.
