Locos Take Down The Undefeated Nighthawks

The Las Vegas Locos handed the Omaha Nighthawks their first loss in franchise history last night at Sam Boyd Stadium. Both teams now have a record of 2-1 and with the win, the Locos are now the top team in the UFL.

The Locos gave the home crowd of nearly 10,000 fans a 22-10 victory over the Jeff Garcia led Nighthawks. The Locos defense forced three turnovers included two Garcia interceptions. On the night, Garcia was 22-37 for 168 yards and a touchdown.

Cornerback Isaiah Trufant was on the receiving end of both Garcia interceptions, tying a UFL record. One interception Trufant returned 27 yards for an interception. Trufant is the brother of Seahawks cornerback Marcus Trufant, and he spent the three seasons playing in the AFL.

Locos quarterback Tim Rattay had an average game, but running back DeDe Dorsey provided the spark needed on offense. Dorsey caught 5 passes for 85 yards and ran 13 times for 63 yards.
"We started out shaky on both sides, but we settled down," Locos coach Jim Fassel said. "I've told the team two thousand times -- 'the race is on,' and it's all about getting better each week."

Maurice Clarrett had another poor performance, rushing four times for 7 yards. The same goes for Ahman Green, who ran 10 times for 30 yards. Green also fumbled once.
Locos kicker Steven Hauschka made three field goals in the first half, tying the UFL's record for field goals in a game.
