College Football Rankings: Heisman Top Five Going Into Middle Of October
We have a three way tie at top!!!!
1A. Cameron Newton QB Auburn: Cam Newton has led the Auburn Tigers to a 6-0 start and has compiled great stats along way. At 6'6" 250 with speed Newton is a very underrated passer. Has a very high 180.73 passer rating so far this season could be better but his five interceptions thrown has knocked that number down. Aside from that, he's had great year throwing for 1,138 yards, 12 touchdowns, and a completion percentage of 64.8%. He has also ran ball for 675 yards with nine touchdowns and 198 yards and four touchdowns against Kentucky last week. He will show if he is the real deal in the next two weeks facing Arkansas and LSU at home.
1B. Terrelle Pryor QB Ohio State: Terrelle has done very well this season and has become a even better passer. Now he has his Ohio State Buckeyes ranked No.1 in the country after Alabama lost to South Carolina last week. Terrelle's injury in the Illinois game has him tied for first now because he hasn't ran the ball since. But his passing performance of 334 yards and three touchdowns was a career best. This year so far he has put up great numbers with 1,349 yards passing and 15 touchdowns to go along with only three interceptions. He has ran for 354 yards this season even though he has not taken off for a run in a game and half.
1C. LaMichael James RB Oregon : Has really performed well in high-flying Oregon offense with 848 yards rushing on 114 carries for 7.4 yards per carry and nine touchdowns. Also a good receiving back with six catches for 192 yards and six touchdowns. He has outperformed everyone in Pac-10 easily so far. Going into conference games, we will see if he can keep up his tremendous pace running and catching the ball.
2. Denard Robinson QB Michigan: Was clear cut number one favorite when playing smaller schools in easy part of schedule but has fallen after poor performance at home against Michigan State. He couldn't hit passes down field and couldn't turn the corner against a fast defense likes Michigan States He could make up for it next game against Iowa with a good performance. He still has talent but still isn't there as a QB yet. Great numbers so far this year for Robinson with 1.223 yards passing and eight touchdowns, and 991 yards rushing to go along with nine touchdowns.
3. Kellen Moore QB Boise State: Kellen Moore is a absolute fantastic passer. I'm sure any team in the country would love to have his ability and the leadership he gives the Broncos. The only reason he will never win the Heisman this year is because he puts up great stats like everyone else but doesn't play the same competition. Sorry Broncos fans!! His numbers are out of this world with 1,334 yards passing and 14 touchdowns to go along with a passer rating of 183.27. His completion percentage is 67 percent. His best stat is just one interception. He just does not turn the ball over.
