This overlooked game should shape up to be a very intense matchup. Both teams have suffered their only losses to ranked teams; FSU losing to Oklahoma and Virginia losing to USC. Neither of these teams are in elite form, but they level up against each other pretty evenly. Virginia is averaging 32 points a game, compared to Florida State’s average of 35.3. While the Seminoles might have the slight upper hand in this one, Virginia’s quarterback, Marc Verica could turn the tables for everyone’s expectations.

Keys to the Games

* Marc Verica is the senior quarterback for Virginia, he carries a spiffy QB rating of 138.35. He’s thrown five touchdowns and only one interception in his first three games, passing for a total of 697 yards for the season. Virginia will look towards him, their underrated running game, and eye-popping defense, which has allowed opponents to only average 12.3 points per game this season.

* Florida State isn’t a 7-point favorite for no reason, their coming off a 31-0 shutout win against Wake Forest last week.  They have an impressive defense, but get hurt severely with their risky defensive play calling and coverage mistakes. Look for this to be a low-scoring game.

* Florida State have been riding being their senior quarterback, Christian Ponder. The 6’3’’ stud has thrown for 672 yards and seven touchdowns. He’s having a blessed time finding his two receivers, Easterling and Reed. Their running game can also run pretty deep with two athletic running backs in Jones and Thompson; both backs have a combined total of 470 yards and four touchdowns.

Look for Florida State try and keep Virginia with a slim lead throughout this game. The third quarter could possibly have the big plays that will determine the outcome of this meeting. Virginia is an underrated football team this year, but Florida State will be able to hold off a strong lead.
