Notre Dame 2011 Football Recruiting Class: Who's In and Who's Out?
With Notre Dame's latest addition of 4-star receiver DaVaris Daniels, as well as three other commitments this month, the Fighting Irish's 2011 recruiting class has solidified itself as one of the best in the nation.
Notre Dame is tied with Ohio State for a nation-high 10 4-star commitments and with their recent push it's hard to argue against putting the Irish among the top five recruiters for the year.
So where does Notre Dame go from here? Which uncommitted prospects are on the fence and which ones have already scratched the Irish from their lists?
Here's the breakdown of all the latest recruiting news from South Bend.
With 20 prospects committed already, there's not much room left in Notre Dame's 2011 class, so we'll focus on the elite uncommitted names in the who's out and on the bubble portion.
Who's In?
1 of 3
5-Star Recruits: One
4-Star Recruits: 10
3-Star Recruits: 8
Best Offensive Prospect: Ben Koyack, TE
Best Defensive Prospect: Aaron Lynch, DE
Most Notre Dame fans are already familiar with the commitments from earlier this year such as tight end Ben Koyack, defensive end Aaron Lynch, running back Justice Hayes, offensive tackle Matt Hegarty, and safety Eilar Hardy.
All of them are ranked in the Top 15 at their respective positions, with Koyack, Lynch and Hegarty ranking in the Top 10.
But after a quiet month on August, the Irish brought in three 4-star prospects as well as 3-star cornerback Josh Atkinson.
First it was safety George Atkinson, then Atkinson, followed by defensive end Stephon Tuitt, and most recently wide receiver DaVaris Daniels.
Who's Out?

As mentioned earlier, we'll be focusing on the elite uncommitted prospects still on the market with Notre Dame already holding 20 players in their 2011 recruiting class.
There are a few key names to consider here, all of whom the Fighting Irish have made offers to and held significant interest in at some point.
Most recently it was Doran Grant, the top-rated cornerback in the class, to scratch Notre Dame from his list when he announced his final eight choices earlier this month.
5-star defensive end Ray Drew, 5-star wide receiver George Farmer, and 5-star running back Rodney Coe have also eliminated the Irish from consideration.
And to close things out, two more Notre Dame targets, 4-star wide receiver DeAnthony Arnett and 4-star offensive guard Cyrus Hobbi are no longer looking at South Bend either.
All of these players could be used, but none present pressing needs other than Grant; there's really no alternative at the cornerback position.
Who's On The Bubble?

Now for the real meat, the news that should draw the most interest from Notre Dame fans: the big names the Irish still have a shot at.
There's four names that stand out from the crowd in this regard and all of them would be welcome additions to the roster.
5-star running back Savon Huggins, 4-star safety Wayne Lyons, 4-star defensive end Ishaq Williams, and 4-star offensive tackle Antonio Richardson.
Lyons and Williams don't meet needs, with a pair of 4-star prospects already committed at both positions. Lyons visited South Bend earlier this month, but his interest appears to be stronger elsewhere. Williams visited in August and remains a possibility.
Huggins is the name to really pay attention to though. He's one of the top uncommitted prospects in the nation and an elite playmaker with off-the-charts elusiveness.
Huggins cut his choices down to five earlier this month, listing Notre Dame along with Florida, Rutgers, Pitt, and North Carolina.
