College Football: Jimmy Poll, Week Three

Jim FolsomSep 28, 2010

A very interesting week of college football this past week will shake the poll up a bit. Alabama remains at the top but the gap appears to be shrinking. Arkansas threw a scare into the Tide this past week. That makes me wonder a bit about their invincibility. I really do not share the rest of the world's infatuation with Ryan Mallet and Arkansas. They are probably going to finish fourth in the SEC West when the dust settles.

Alabama keeps the top spot this week with their comeback win on the road at Arkansas. However, they do not appear to be the runaway I thought they were. With a lot of tough teams left on the schedule, including this week when the Gators come to town, don't be shocked if Bama loses a game or two.

#2 Boise State

The Broncos continue to impress. And the WAC Conference continues to impress as well with Nevada entering the Top 25 this week. The Broncos may well play another ranked team after all. All I know is they keep winning. Two wins so far against Automatic Qualifying schools already, and not the bottom feeders either.

#3 Ohio State

The Buckeyes continue to roll against nobodies. The Big Ten awaits. We'll know more about them next week.

I watched the game against Arizona State. These Ducks are dangerous on offense and forced a ton of turnovers. However, a lot of the turnovers would not have happened with a more experienced QB on the other side. This week Stanford comes in. You see where I'm going with this.

That shellacking Of UCLA looks a bit more impressive now doesn't it? So does that bombing of Notre Dame who is 1-3, but a lot better than last year in my opinion. Stanford is good. Really good. Remember where you heard that first. I'll give you a hint. It was about two weeks ago.

Urban Meyer, you sly dog. You've been sandbagging haven't you? You had a Tebow all along. You waited until right before the 'Bama game to bring him out. You're gooood.

Dude, Florida State must really suck. Or are you trying to sandbag too?

Unlike Boise State, I think TCU is a bit overrated. But the best college team in Texas deserves to be in the Top Ten. But if you can't dominate SMU any more than that, not the Top Five.

Just when you think the Huskers are serious, they lay an egg. South Dakota State was it? 17-3?

Auburn cracks the Jimmy Poll this week with their sweep of South Carolina in back to back weeks. Also the win over Miss State looks a bit better this week too.

Yes we have a tie. One good SEC West Tiger deserves another. These Tigers have wins over North Carolina and West Virginia along with SEC wins against Miss St and Vanderbilt. These two will settle things on the field soon enough.
