2012 College Football Recruiting: Lamont Baldwin Grabs The Spotlight With Force

Mike PendletonSep 25, 2010

"Mr. Everything" isn't just a title that is given to a star player, it's a title that is given to truly special players who can do everything.

Lamont Baldwin from Archbishop Carroll High School (Washington, DC) is the truly special player who can do everything, playing both offense and defense for the Lions, and is making his case for one of the top wide receiver/defensive back recruits in the nation.

Baldwin, a 6'4", 195-pound skill player for Archbishop Carroll is among one of the top names in the recruiting class of 2012.

As Baldwin plays both sides of the ball, his recruit position is wide receiver and when asked how he plays his position he states, "I'm a wide receiver, a wide receiver that does it all for his team to lead them to victory. Run, catch, or block, I'll do it."

To be the best, not only do you have to be the best player, but you have to be a great person, and a great person Baldwin is.

When talking about what drives him to be the best player he can be, Baldwin said, "My drive is that I have a family to take care of and I want my family and me to have the best that we can have and we can get that through me playing with God-given talent and skill in football."

Studying is a part of every player's life, but most of the time the studying comes with the team.

Baldwin, like every great player, takes the extra steps to make himself better, watching film on his downtime saying, "Off-the-field, I'm constantly looking at film on YouTube watching other top wide receivers and comparing myself to them seeing the difference between myself and the competition."

His drive and work ethic are respectable, his talent is incredible, Baldwin just wants to be the best player he can be. As a sophomore last season he had 38 catches for 892 yards and eight touchdowns while gaining 89 yards rushing. On defense Baldwin had 32 tackles, five sacks, two interceptions, four blocked kicks, and two defensive scores.

What are we to expect next?

Well, Baldwin once again preaches a message loud and clear to the followers saying, "I want people to know my name, Lamont Baldwin! I want this football thing so bad that I give up my weekends and summer to practice so I can be the best in the country.

With looks from Pittsburgh, Rutgers, UCLA, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Nebraska, Boston College, and Maryland as a junior, you better believe that Baldwin's name will continue to grow.

As this young man becomes a star, you will begin to hear his name, loud and clear.
