College Football: Week 4 Pac-10 Football Pick 'Em

Joe PenkalaSep 23, 2010

With most of the out of conference play out of the way, the Pac-10 schedule is starting to transition to conference play. This week provides some very interesting matchups and puts a lot of the Pac-10 elite to the test on the road.

This week, UCLA head to Texas, Stanford goes to Notre Dame, Oregon State goes to the blue turf of Boise and Oregon heads south to Arizona State.

In this weekly piece its time to take a look at the matchups, make my picks and even throw in a pick against the spread.

USC at Washington State

1 of 7

USC opens up its conference play against Washington State. While USC should win this game with ease, you could have said that about their first three games, all games that they struggles to put opponents away in.

While USC continues to struggle with penalty issues and consistency, the Trojans will be able to overcome those deficiencies against Washington State and will pull away in the second half.

I'll take USC straight up and I would also lay the 22 points that USC is favored by.

UCLA at Texas

2 of 7

This is a game that could get ugly. UCLA has had struggles to find its offense and that won't be helped by heading to Texas this weekend.

While Texas has not looked overly impressive this year, they are coming off a huge win over Texas Tech on the road and will look to keep rolling this week.

Take Texas and also give the 16 points.

Oregon State at Boise State

3 of 7

Gameday heads to the blue turf this week for the Boise State vs Oregon State matchup. This is a huge game for both teams and certainly is a big game for the Pac-10 as a whole.

Oregon State has already suffered an early season loss to TCU and continues its aggressive out-of-conference schedule against Boise State. This game will provide the Beavers with a lot of national exposure and could move themselves up the ranks with a win.

Boise State needs this win to stay in the national title talks. This is Boise State's last game out of conference and likely its last real test. A loss could end the broncos' title hopes.

Take Boise straight up but if you are betting the spread, take Oregon State and the 17 points.

Stanford at Notre Dame

Stanford heads on the road to Notre Dame and looks ready to take down the Irish. Notre Dame is coming off of two tough losses, last week in overtime against Michigan State and two weeks ago against Michigan.

Stanford has been rolling under the leadership of Andrew Luck and looks to be a force in the Pac-10 championship race.

Take Stanford and happily give the 5 points.

California at Arizona

The only one of the big three in the Pac-10 that finds themselves at home is Arizona. Arizona is coming off a big win over Iowa and Nick Foles appears to be picking up where he left off last year.

Cal on the other hand, is coming off a bad loss to Nevada and appears to be struggling to find its rhythm. The downside for Cal is they will not find it on the road.

Take Arizona and give the 7 points.

Oregon at Arizona State

6 of 7

The No. 1 offense and defense will be on the field this weekend at Arizona State. The downside for the Sun Devils is neither of those belong to them.

Oregon brings the nation's top offense and defense and many believe that they are ripe for an upset this week. The Ducks will be playing their second road game of the year, winning earlier in the year 48-13 over Tennessee.

ASU almost pulled out a huge upset last week, losing to Wisconsin 20-19. Despite the loss, it could become a turning point in the Sun Devils' year.

I see this following the same script as the Tennessee game. ASU will keep this game tight for a quarter or two but the speed and talent will take over for Oregon.  Take Oregon and give the 12 points.
