My 2010 College Football Top 25 Rankings for Week 4

1. Alabama

A 62-point effort against Duke is just showing off dominance at this point. Can Arkansas provide a test?

2. Ohio State

Like Alabama, the Buckeyes also show no signs of slowing down.

3. Boise State

First of many blowout wins over inferior opponents this season; need style points badly in this week’s Oregon State game.

4. TCU

Baylor isn’t a total scrub, but TCU made them look like one. First road game of the season at SMU coming up, but shouldn’t be a problem.

5. Oregon

With 189 points scored in three games, the Ducks have more points than Miami (OH), Army, San Jose State, New Mexico State, and Washington State had in the entire 2009 season.

6. Texas

Heading into Texas Tech and picking up the win was huge. Must avoid a letdown against UCLA before the showdown against Oklahoma in two weeks.

7. Nebraska

Washington didn’t look like they belonged on the field. Defense forced Locker into the worst game of his collegiate career.

8. Oklahoma

Two of the three games so far this season have been closer than they should have, but they know how to close the deal.

9. Arkansas

Ryan Mallett was just as good on the road in Georgia as he was in his first two warm-up games. If anyone is going to get to Alabama’s defense, it’ll be him.

10. Florida

The Gators are starting to come around, but still don’t look like a team that can give Alabama much trouble in two weeks.

11. South Carolina

Slept through the Furman game on defense, but no worries there. The next two games (@Auburn and Alabama) show us if the Gamecocks really belong in the top tier.

12. Arizona

Letting Iowa back in the game wasn’t pretty, but having the composure to weather the storm was extremely impressive. The Wildcats will need that composure in conference play.

13. Utah

Beating up New Mexico just seems to be the “in” thing to do these days.

14. Auburn

Nice win to come back from down 17-3 against Clemson to pick up the win. South Carolina will provide a nice test this week.

15. Stanford

Looking extremely strong to kick off the season, the upcoming road trip to Notre Dame and Oregon will tell the rest of the story. That Oregon game is setting up to be a barn-burner.

6. LSU

With the UNC second half now a thing of the past, this LSU defense looks capable of keeping the Tigers in every game they play.

17. Wisconsin

Another ugly win, but like USC must be thinking, a win is a win. They have the talent to finish near the top of the Big Ten, but they’ll need a step forward.

18. Iowa

The Big Ten Title is still within reach, but the dream season came to an end last week. After taking all of the momentum with 20 unanswered points to tie the game, a truly elite team finds a way to close the deal.

19. Michigan

Not a pretty win to be pushed to the wire by an FCS team, but not folding under pressure like past Rodriguez teams might have done was a good sign.

20. USC

The Trojans continue to look like a bunch of talented players with no idea what they are doing. 3-0 is 3-0, but this team is still a ways away from being ready for the Pac-10’s elite.

21. Miami

Having last week off could prove to be valuable in game-planning for a tough road game in Pittsburgh this week.

22. West Virginia

A win at LSU this week could spark a special season, but it certainly won’t come easy.

23. Penn State

Nice bounce-back shutout coming off of the frustrating Alabama game.

24. Nevada

The WAC gets written off as a one-team conference, but Nevada reminded the college football world that they aren’t so bad themselves with a blowout win over Cal.

25. Michigan State

A beautiful fake field goal in overtime over Notre Dame lands the Spartans a spot here to round out the Top 25.
