5-Star RB Aaron Green Set to Visit Nebraska, FSU: What About Texas and Cal?
Aaron Green is one of the top uncommitted prospects still on the market, and the prized back still has his eye firmly on his top four choices but remains firm in his stance that he doesn't have a favorite.
Green is ranked as the No. 3 running back on Scout and the No. 5 running back on Rivals.
He's got the talent to really elevate any recruiting class in the country and will be a great addition for any school lucky enough to secure his commitment.
While Green won't divulge who's leading between Nebraska, Texas, Cal, and FSU, he's set up a couple official visits that should give you an idea of who's on his mind at least.
“I’m getting out to Florida State when they take on BYU this weekend,” he said. “There was nothing really special about making this decision. They were the only school with a home game with me on a bye week, I like how the program there is new and they’re basically starting from scratch.
“And they’ve been the one school that I’ve been talking to a lot since coaches were allowed to call earlier this month,” Green said. “I’ve been talking with coach [D.J.] Eliot a lot—nothing serious, just stuff about getting me out there for a visit.
“I’ll also be out at Nebraska for an official when they take on Texas on Oct. 16,” he said. “Even though I don’t have a bye that week, it’s just a good time for me to go.”
As for Texas and Cal, the other two schools Green has narrowed his focus toward, it appears visits will eventually come for each.
“I plan on getting out to both of those schools hopefully,” he said. “I like the offense and coaches at both of those schools. And I especially like the way Cal uses their running backs and how they run a pro-style offense.
“Texas also has a great running game, and they’re the school from my home state. I grew up a fan of the Longhorns, but that’s not going to weigh on my decision."
Green insists that his list could still change at any time, and he hasn't ruled out the possibility of committing to a program outside of his top four, though observers doubt that will be the case.
“Ultimately, I just want to go wherever I feel at home really,” he said. “That ‘home feeling’ to me is just how much I like the coaches, and just being around players that are similar to me and stuff like that. I want to be around people I can relate to.”
Green hasn't set a timeline for his commitment and could potentially make an announcement at any time and might even wait until after the season.
Unless he's blown away in his visit with Florida State, don't expect any decision to be made before the Nebraska-Texas game in October; you have to think Green will be attending the show a free man.
