ACC Down to 1 Team in Latest Top 25 College Football Polls

After the events of Week 2, it should come as no surprise the ACC isn’t represented well in the latest Top 25 Polls.

Virginia Tech, coming off a close loss to #3 Boise State, came into Week 2 still in great position on the outskirts of the Top 10 at #13. Fast forward to mid-afternoon Saturday and the Hokies are sitting at 0-2 after a 21-16 loss to James Madison at home. Yes, FCS James Madison. I won't even begin to breakdown why they lost. This is one of those games you look at and think 'WTF?'.

Their Coastal counterpart Miami played #2 Ohio State tough for a majority of the game, but constantly kept shooting itself in the foot. A majority of the blame for the 36-24 loss falls on QB Jacory Harris and his 4 INT's. They might have lost but the silver lining? They look better than any other team in the ACC and now stand as the only team ranked in the ACC this week, coming in at #17.

Florida State and Georgia Tech dropped from the rankings after heading out west and losing their respective games. The Seminoles were absolutely man-handled by Oklahoma 47-17. Coming in, many thought this would be the upset of the week with the Noles looking like the Florida State of old and the Sooners struggling last week against Utah State. Georgia Tech just looked plain BAD. The Yellow Jackets lost to Kansas, who just the week before lost 6-3 to North Dakota State. It was painfully obvious their passing game and entire defense is a weak spot this year.

Clemson (2-0) was the only major mover for the conference, jumping to #26 in the Coaches poll after a 58-21 win over Presbyterian. They take on #15 Auburn next week, a game ESPN Gameday will be broadcast from and would likely jump into the Top 20 with a win.
