Breaking News: Eduardo Acevedo Steps In As New Estudiantes De Tecos Coach
Eduardo Acevedo has officially replaced Miguel Herrera as coach of Estudiantes de Tecos.
He arrived with his brother Alejandro who will be his assistant at the official home of the team Estadio Tres De Marzo located in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
A press conference was convened at the request of the management with Eduardo Acevedo present. The Directors and owners of Estudiantes de Tecos recognized that removing Miguel Herrera was a difficult decision.
They decided that Mr. Herrera was expendible after the Tecos loss to Chivas of Guadalajara.
Eduardo Acevedo declared that he will attempt to rescue the team from the bottom heap of the Mexican League table and attempt to prevent the descent into last place and beyond..
Eduardo Acevedo is a football/player from Uruguay who once played for Estudiantes De Tecos. He declared in a previous interview with the "Las Voces De Futbol" (Spanish for the Voice of Football/Soccer] before coming to Mexico that he received offers from the Bolivian National Football/Soccer Team and a Spanish team as well as Tecos.
Mr. Acevedo ecstatically declared in the interview that he accepted the position at Estudiantes de Tecos since he used to play for the team between 2003-2004 and 2006-2007. He also played for Monarcas of Morelia between 2004-2005.
He has played in the 1986 World Cup for Uruguay and in the 1986 as well as 1998 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. Mr. Acevedo also obtained a total of 42 International Caps for the Uruguayan National Team.
The next game for the Estudiantes de Tecos will be against Atlante on September 11, 2010. It remains to be seen whether the change in guard will help or hurt the team.
