New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel fired back at Buffalo Bills safety CJ Gardner-Johnson for his post-game comments after the Patriots' 29-26 victory on Sunday.

After Gardner-Johnson declared that the Patriots "didn't do s--t better than us" and called wide receiver Efton Chism a "practice-squad player" who "made a hell of a play" with a go-ahead one-handed touchdown catch, Vrabel trolled the eight-year veteran during his radio appearance on Monday.

"For a guy that's been on eight teams in four years? I mean, I guess he knows the drill," Vrabel said with a laugh.

In fairness to Chism, the undrafted second-year pro has been a member of New England's 53-man roster since 2025 and was never on the practice squad. He's seeing more opportunities in the Patriots' offense this year while star wideout A.J. Brown recovers from an ankle sprain, and he made a highlight-reel catch when he snagged a touchdown pass from Drake Maye with under two minutes left in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game.

"We all believe he's one of the best quarterbacks in the league," Chism said of Maye, per Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer. "He makes plays each and every week, each and every day in practice. And so we just got to continue to be there for him. And any time he gives us an opportunity as receivers or as running backs or anyone, be there for him so he can build that confidence in himself, like we all know he has. He's an awesome player, an awesome captain and an awesome guy."

It was a much-needed victory for a Patriots team that was coming off an abysmal 35-6 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3.

"I think it's just that no matter what's going on in previous weeks or what's the future, we're focused on it and we're continuing to build that identity," Chism said. "And it's not going to become something overnight. We're going to have to continue to finish, and have the effort to finish, and just be those guys out there that continue to play relentlessly."

Still, Gardner-Johnson wasn't impressed as he blasted Chism and the rest of the Patriots after the Bills had their three-game winning streak snapped.

"Listen, we're not going to get into no bulletin-board material," Gardner-Johnson told reporters. "An elevated guy made a helluva catch. Probably won't hear from him again. Respectfully. And I say that with a lot of confidence becauseโ€ฆ [Drake Maye] didn't put his confidence in his best player. He would've thrown it to [Romeo] Doubs or something. But they won the game. Whatever. They didn't do s--t better than us. We gotta play better. And they can mark that. We'll be back to see them again at the end of the year, so they can have that same energy. And they put up, what, 20-something points? They barely scored, they struggled all game. A practice-squad player made a hell of a play."

It's safe to say that Gardner-Johnson provided the bulletin-board material that New England will use when it faces Buffalo again in December. The AFC East rivals are among the top Super Bowl contenders in the conference, so it won't be a surprise to see even more fireworks in their next matchup.
