Boise State: Broncos' Win Was Best Thing That Could Happen To College Football

Boise State's comeback 33-30 win was the best thing that could have happened to college football, not just because of the fact that they won, but because of how they won. They came in full of steam and went up 17-0. If they'd gone on like that it would have been Virginia Tech losing, but Tech came back and took the lead. At that point, Boise State had to win, and then they did. 

In dramatic fashion they stopped Virginia Tech to get the ball back with less than two minutes remaining. In just 38 second of game time the Broncos marched down the field and scored the go ahead touchdown. Then, they stopped Virginia Tech on four downs. They won, flat out, against a quality BCS opponent, the number 6 team in the country.

So why is this the best possible thing for college football? Because now we have a team that is on the precipice of running the table for a second season in a row. It's a team that would have just one loss in three seasons. It's a team that would have four wins against ranked opponents. It's a team that now has back to back wins against top 6 opponents. It's a team that has the longest winning streak in College Football. It's a team that would have to play in the BCS Championship game, but it's a team that would generate untold controversy in doing so. 

In short it's a team that would put an end to all of this BCS nonsense. It's a team that could finally bring about a true championship in the only major team sport that doesn't have a playoff. It is a team that could finally bring about reality to College Football. Because of that, this year I am a Boise State fan, and I'll be wearing a blue shirt on September 25.
