Coming out of the half, Army put themselves in a good situation with a steady rushing attack led by Patrick Mealy who's 11-yard third quarter run put the team up by seven as the ensuing PAT was good.

Alex Carolton put the Black Knights up 24-14 in the third with his 42-yard field goal with 8:28 left in the third.

EMU battled back behind their young QB Alex Gillett who ran for a score and followed that up with a 10-yard strike to Ben Thayer to go up 28-24 with less than three minutes remaining.

Not to be outdone, Army started its next possession at its own 28-yard line with only 2:55 on the clock.

With a quick 16-yard strike by Trent Steelman getting them to their own 44-yard line Army put themselves in position to score following the pass up with six straight rushing plays Army drove themselves down to the Eastern Michigan seven-yard line.

Lining up for First and Goal with 44 seconds left Jared Hassin became the hero as he scored what would become the game winner from seven yards out.

Eastern Michigan made it interesting as they drove down the field led by Alex Gillett.

But running out of time and rushed out of the pocket on the last play of the game his desperation heave from Army's 32-yard line sailed through the back of the end zone giving the Black Knights the win as they start their 2010 campaign 1-0.

They head back to West Point as they get ready for their first home game against Hawaii on September, 11. Kickoff is currently set for 12 p.m. and will be aired by CBS College Sports Network.
