BYU Will Send Jake Locker And Washington To The Lockers: 5 Reasons!
Jake Locker and the Washington Huskies are going to implode at Lavell Edwards Stadium. Look for a score of about 31-17. Here's why:
1. The defensive ends and linebackers are going to get to Jake early and give him some high altitude "hugs." After a few hits, look for Jake to leave the game just like Sam Bradford did a year ago!
BYU has Jordan Pendleton, Vic So'oto, and some other strong blitzers. Like it or not, Jake is going to hit! So'oto is 6'1" and 261 pounds. He's also very fast and elusive. Pendleton, from the linebacker position, is 6'3" and 239 pounds. He is a huge hitter.
2. Washington's blitzing will not be as easy because BYU has Matt Reynolds, who will be protecting Jake Heaps from the left tackle when he comes in. Reynolds, 6-6, 320 pounds, is on the Lombardi Award watch list. Don't be surprised if nobody gets to Heaps - even one time.
3. BYU will have most of the 65,000 sold-out screaming fans. Look for the Huskies to start panting in the third quarter due to the 4,700 feet altitude.
It's not easy to go from sea level to a mountain altitude. BYU players have had a steady diet of the high altitude.
That's probably when the tired team is going to face Jake Heaps. It's difficult to defend two quarterbacks, with two different styles and two different throwing sides.
4. BYU's run-by-committee backfield is going to roll about about 150-200 yards on the Huskies and drive up and down the field. This is going to wear the defensive unit out. BYU will keep running in a new backfield to run them ragged.
There's not going to be much skill difference between the backs that the Huskies defend. Then, too, Washington is going to have to defend Riley Nelson, who can run like a back. It's going to be a tired Husky team at half-time.
5. Once the Husky defensive backfield are tired, Jake Heaps will come in for the second half and start launching some laser-like missiles that the defensive backs are not going to be able to cover. This should give them their last two touchdowns.
BYU's experienced and fast receivers like O'Neill Chambers, McKay Jacobsen, and Spencer Hafoka, will run it up fast. That's not even counting the new crop of tight ends.
I'm sticking with 31-17, BYU!
