College Football Scores and Odds: More Saturday ATS Trends

Joe DuffySep 2, 2010

Still more college football betting trends to report for Week 1. Let’s look at the late games Saturday plus Sunday's and Monday’s action. This and the incredible video tip sheet info puts the advantage in the hands of the bettors.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 4

Washington vs BYU

Jake Locker or not, the Huskies haven’t been a great spread team of late. They’re just 2-8 ATS over their last 10 on the road. Brigham Young doesn’t go down without a fight early in the season; the Cougars are 5-1 ATS over their last six September matchups.

(22) Oregon State vs (7) TCU

Those plucky Oregon State Beavers have made many sportsbook friends over the last couple of seasons. They’re 23-9 ATS over their last 32 games overall. Then again, they’re just 8-21-1 ATS over their last 30 September games. TCU has beaten six of its last eight spreads. Most of the trends in this matchup favor the UNDER, which is 10-4 in Oregon State’s last 14 non-conference games.

(16) LSU vs (18) North Carolina

Though LSU is 1-4 ATS in its last five, it may have a shot against a North Carolina team missing its star defensive tackle, Marvin Austin, who was suspended by coach Butch Davis. LSU is also 4-0 ATS in its last four games against ACC teams.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 5

Tulsa vs East Carolina

If you believe in teams’ early-month betting trends rather than late-season numbers, Tulsa looks good in this matchup. The Golden Hurricanes have beaten five of six spreads in September. Meanwhile, East Carolina has lost six straight against the spread in September and is also 5-11 over its last 16 games on grass.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 6

Navy vs Maryland

Both Navy and Maryland are trending toward low-scoring affairs of late. Add up Navy’s last five games and Maryland’s last six and the UNDER is 10-1. Fittingly, the Navy Midshipmen are comfortable travelling the country; they’re 11-5 ATS in their last 16 neutral-site games.

(5) Boise State vs (6) Virginia Tech

Is there a bigger game to bet on at books like Bodog this week? All the spread trends show that the Boise State Broncos play with a chip on their collective shoulder. Kellen Moore and the boys are 5-0 ATS over their last five September games and 7-1 ATS in their last eight non-conference games. Even though Virginia Tech has beaten five straight spreads of its own, it’s in tough against Boise State.
