NCAA Football Betting: Top Five Games To Watch in September
NFL betting lines are taking a lot of attention right now, but college football may be the more thrilling of the two, and there are at least five games that you should clear your schedule to watch during the first month of the season.
September 6, 8:00 – No. 3 Boise State vs. No. 10 Virginia Tech
This is the best of an intriguing first week in the NCAA, as the Broncos look to show they deserve their lofty preseason ranking by beating the Hokies, who had their sixth straight 10-win season last year. The Broncos have a wealth of returning talent, and this is a massive game, something they’ve thrived on in recent years.
September 11, 3:30 PM ET – No. 20 Florida State at No. 7 Oklahoma
This will be a huge test for the Seminoles’ retooled defense, which was atrocious in 2009. The Sooners will have Landry Jones, who took over for Sam Bradford last year when the defending Heisman winner was hurt early in the year. Florida State can put up points of their own with a healthy Christian Ponder, and this could end up being a shootout.
September 11, 3:40 PM ET- No. 13 Miami at No. 2 Ohio State
NCAA football betting players will surely remember the 2003 Fiesta Bowl, when the Buckeyes beat the Hurricanes 31-24 in double overtime to win the national title. The Hurricanes are looking to put themselves back in the title mix, while the Buckeyes are one of the top favorites to win the BCS crown this year.
September 18, 8:00 PM ET – No. 5 Texas at Texas Tech
The Red Raiders cost the Longhorns a chance to play for the national title in 2008 with a last-second 39-33 win at home over Texas, who responded last year with a 34-24 win in Austin, eventually losing to Alabama in the BCS title game. This will be the first big test for new Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville, and those who bet football online will be eager to see if the Red Raiders can still air it out like they did under the departed Mike Leach. But they’ll have to do it against an excellent Texas defense.
September 25, 12:00 PM ET – No. 1 Alabama at No. 17 Arkansas
The defending national champions play Penn State and Florida in the first five weeks of the season as well, but this could be the tricky game. The Crimson Tide have dropped three of their last five at Arkansas against the Razorbacks, who many are tipping to be a strong darkhorse in the SEC. What better way to announce your intentions by taking down the champions? Online sports betting players should definitely tune into this.
