Wisconsin Badgers (AP No. 12)
(0-0 Big Ten) (0-0 Overall)
Head Coach: Bret Bielema
Record Under Bielema: 38-14-0
2009 Record: 5-3 Big Ten, 10-3 Overall
2009 Finish: Fourth in Big Ten / Won Champs Sports Bowl (Def. Miami (FL) 20-14)
All-Time Record: 614-465-53
Overview
Wisconsin enters the 2010 season with high expectations coming off a 10-3 record and a victory over Miami (FL) in the Champs Sports Bowl in 2009.
The Badgers return all five starters to what is widely considered one of the best offensive lines in the country—a line that will clear a path for running back John Clay and a very talented Wisconsin backfield.
Expect the Badgers to run early and often in this game, and throughout the season.
UNLV Runnin' Rebels (AP Unranked)
(0-0 Mountain West) (0-0 Overall)
Head Coach: Bobby Hauck
Record Under Hauck: 0-0-0
2009 Record: 3-5 Mountain West, 5-7 Overall
2009 Finish: Sixth in Mountain West / No Bowl Appearance
All Time Record: 219-251-4
Overview
UNLV first-year coach Bobby Hauck compiled an impressive 80-17 record at Montana and hopes to infuse his winning attitude into a Rebels team that's gone 16-43 over the last five seasons.
While the Badgers are hoping for a Big Ten title and a shot at a premier bowl game, the Rebels start 2010 with a more modest set of expectations that accompany one of the NCAA's toughest schedules.
The Rebels will be running a more traditional offense this season and hope to get a better showing this year from a talented yet underachieving defense.
Line: Wisconsin Badgers (Minus-21)
Analysis
Expect the Badgers to overpower UNLV early and wear down the Rebels defense with their power running game—especially in the second half. Historically, the Badgers are slow starters, so it wouldn't be surprising to see a reasonably close halftime score with Wisconsin pulling away in the second half.
Prediction
Badgers 48, UNLV 16
