Washington Huskies Look To Rebuild with Two New Recruits

Ben GoldsteinAug 30, 2010

With the recent signings of prized recruits Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Kasen Williams, the Washington Huskies are looking to rebuild a program that has had trouble the past couple of years.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins is a five-star prospect who will play tight end at Washington. He is a mammoth athlete at 6'7" and 260 pounds. Jenkins is a great blocker who can both pass and run block with his mammoth size. He can also create monster separation with his big frame and make the tough catch.

Kasen Williams is a also a five-star prospect who will play wide receiver at Washington. Williams is a sure-handed, 6'3" 200 pound receiver who can make amazing catches. He also runs impeccable routes, which makes him a quarterback's best friend.

So what does this mean for the Washington football team?

First off, this means that coach Steve Sarkisian is doing a good job keeping the best in state prospects at Washington. So far, Sarkisian has kept three of the top six prospects from Washington in state. He also has one that is seems likely to commit to Washington to.

Secondly, with all these high profile recruits committing to Washington, it looks as if more are to follow. Jenkins, who committed on August 16, said that things were lined up with other recruits.

After that statement Williams signed, and it looks as if Brett Hundley, a quarterback from California, might give a verbal to Washington. Other high profile prospects such as James Sample, a safety from California, are very high on Washington, and so is local product Danny Shelton, a defensive tackle from Auburn, Washington. Also, getting all these verbals from these prospects could secure Brendon Bigelows early verbal that was given.

With the emergence of Jake Locker this year and the signing of these special recruits, the Washington program is looking to be special in the next couple of years and maybe return to its glorious days under Don James.
