College Football Upset Alert: These Five Underdogs Will Bite in Week One
College Football season officially kicks off this week, and one of the best parts of watching college football is the upsets. Week one provides plenty of great games and plenty of potential upsets that will scramble the polls and leave some fans speechless. Here are five possible upsets for week one in college football.
Pittsburgh Panthers over the Utah Utes

This is arguably one of the best games on the slate for the weekend. On Thursday, the Pitt Panthers travel to Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Utes at Rice-Eccles stadium.
The Panthers may not seem like they are underdogs but the BetMania college football oddsmakers have them listed as a one-point underdog.
The Utes utilize the spread offense and it often takes a few weeks for the offense to come around for any college football team. Jordan Wynn leads this team at quarterback but he will have his hands full with the ferocious blitzing that the Panthers bring from a strong front line. The Utes will need to improve on defense against the run as they face one of the better running backs in the country in Dion Lewis. The Utes ranked 53rd in the country against the run and will have their hands full with Lewis in this game.
The Utes are 1-5 ATS at home when the total is between 49.5 and 52. The college football season kick off with a great contest as Pittsburgh squeaks by the Utes in the opener.
Uconn Huskies over the Michigan Wolverines

Michigan Head Coach Rich Rodriquez is starting the year on the hot seat and it could get a little hotter in Week 1 if they get upset by the Huskies.
The Huskies will deliver a strong dose of running back Jordan Todman and try to establish him early in the game. The Michigan run defense has struggled in the past and will have trouble trying to contain Todman.
Rodriguez is still behind in his preparation for this game as he has yet to name a starting quarterback, has inconsistencie sin the kicking game, and still has yet to name a starting tailback. The Huskies have been money makers for football bettors as they are a jaw dropping 12-2 ATS in the last 14 games, to include 7-0 ATS in the last seven games as an underdog.
Michigan is going in the opposite direction and has burned bettors by going 6-17 against the number in the last 23 Saturday games. This could be the beginning of the end for Rodriquez as the head man at Michigan.
North Carolina over LSU

The Tar Heels will have to try to ignore the dark cloud over the program as the school is currently under investigation. Reports out of Chapel Hill are that as many as 12 players are involved and several have been relegated to the scout team in practice. If there are suspensions, the landscape of this game could change dramatically.
The North Carolina defense has 11 players back on a unit that dominated on defense, finishing in the top 15 in a slew of major defensive categories. Jordan Jefferson will be at quarterback for the Bayou Bengals and he will have his hands full with the defense of the Heels. The Tar Heels have cashed four out of five ATS when facing opponents from the SEC and will win in a tightly contested match.

Cincinnati over Fresno St.

The Bearcats went through a tremendous change last season losing their head coach and numerous star players, but don’t expect the Bearcats to be a bad team this year.
Butch Jones takes over as head coach and he brings back Junior Zach Collaros at quarterback to lead the team. Collaros had a very good preseason camp, and he appears primed for a big season, starting with the game against Fresno St.
Fresno St returns some experience to this team but they cost backers big money of late. The Bulldogs are 1-8 ATS in the last 9 games at home and 4-13 ATS in the last 17 games on grass. The Bearcats match up well and will get the win for Coach Jones in his debut.
Virginia Tech over Boise St

This is the biggest game of the first weekend of college football and has National Title implications. Boise St is finally getting the respect and the schedule they always wanted and it could potentially all be lost if they lose to the Hokies.
The preseason AP poll was announced this week and the Broncos were awarded with a lofty third place ranking. This game will decide if they are worth it. Boise St quarterback, Kellen Moore will do his best to make sure they start the season off with a victory.
However the Hokies are playing in their backyard in as the game will be played at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland. The Hokies boast one of the best backfields in the country with Ryan Williams and Darren Evans and have a solid performer at quarterback with Tyrod Taylor.
This game should go down to the wire and be as entertaining as advertised.
