EPL Preview: Manchester United vs West Ham, August 28, 2010

A lot of pundits are suggesting that Alex Ferguson will rest Scholes and draft either Carrick or Giggs into his spot in the midfield. Rooney has returned to fitness and will most likely play alongside Berbatov in the attack.

United have had what is neither a good start or a bad start to their season. They’re two points behind Chelsea, but they haven’t lost a match and they’ve got what should be an easy game for them coming up in the form of West Ham at home.

They snatched defeat from the jaws of victory when Fulham equalised in the dying minutes of last weekend’s match, which will undoubtedly be disappointing, but taking into account some of Fulham’s better performances last season it is nothing to be embarrassed about. Not picking up all three points at home to West Ham on the other hand would be.

The Hammers are not in for an easy ride this Saturday and this is probably going to be just another notch on their run without an away win. In fact West Ham haven’t won away from home since the opening game of last season.

Upson should return to the side after missing the Carling Cup match, and the defender will certainly be needed as West Ham will be more than happy with a draw from this match. It is expected that they will play a five man midfield and a defensive game, if West Ham have their way this will be a dull match.
