Arsenal: Misery for Wenger As Samir Nasri Sidelined for a Month

With only the first game of the new season completed and with a single point to their credit, Arsenal lose Samir Nasri after he picked up a knock in the Liverpool match.

Although he completed the full 90 minutes, Nasri underwent minor surgery on his knee following the knock and will now miss at least one month.

A club statement read, "Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri will today undergo minor surgery on his knee following a meniscal injury sustained during the match against Liverpool on Sunday.

"Nasri, who has been in impressive form, will be out of action for a month."

With captain Cesc already a doubt for the weekend's match against Blackpool, Nasri's absence will further weaken the midfield.

Robin van Persie is another key member of the Arsenal attack that is returning from an injury, which came about during the World Cup in South Africa.

Arsene Wenger will be praying that his team doesn't start picking injuries, which cost them a serious challenge towards the end of last season.

A fully fit Arsenal team have the potential to commit themselves in conquering the crown of England, but time will tell if the young guns can cope with the physical pressures of the Barclay's Premier League.

For now, though, the most likely replacement in the central position could possibly be Denilson.
