Renee Gork: Reporter Fired for Wearing Florida Hat To Arkansas Presser
That loss last year must still be stinging Coach Bobby Petrino.
According to an Arkansas Football site,
http://blogs.nwaonline.com/slophouse/2010/08/radio-hosts-gators-cap-leads-to-fan-criticism-firing/ the Hogs are bent over a member of the media sporting a Gator hat at a press conference.
Renee Gork, a reporter who works for the above mentioned outlet, failed to realize she had left the house with the Orange and Blue stapled to her head, thus irritating Petrino.
After posing a question, Petrino responded by saying that "would be the last question he answered while she was wearing that hat."
Ouch!
Those phantom pass interference calls in last years' game must be coming back to haunt Petrino.
The bastion of all that is Holy, Mr. Bobby Petrino, decided to make an example out of this young lady, causing the buzz that ultimately cost Gork her job.
I call immediately on all Gator outlets to recruit this young lady in the spirit of the Gator Nation.
Seriously, it was terrible judgement on Gork's part.
Bad decision? Yes.
A fire-able offense? No!
Unless Gork was intentionally trying to stick it to the Hogs, I can't see why she wouldn't have deserved a mulligan.
Gork should have known better. Perhaps she thought it best to just keep it all in the SEC instead of say wearing a Nittany Lions ball cap.
Come to think of it, I wonder if she would have been fired if she had been spotted donning a Southwest Missouri State t-shirt?
Or perhaps it would have been better for her to simply wear an Atlanta Falcons Jersey and be done with it.
Grow up, Bobby!
