Renee Gork: Reporter Fired for Wearing Florida Hat to Arkansas Event
Reporter Renee Gork learned the hard way not to walk into Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino's press conference with the wrong head gear.
Gork, who worked for KAKS a Northwest Arkansas radio station devoted to the Razorbacks, was canned from her job after showing up to the press conference with a Florida Gators baseball cap on.
The radio station fired Gork two days after the apparent "incident" leaving her to make headlines for a rather benign incident--unless it happens to take place in the hotly contested SEC. Here is a look at how it all went down.
The Hat Heard 'Round the SEC

Apparently it was a rainy day in Fayetteville and so to protect her hair or simply stay dry, Gork threw on a Gators cap before entering the press conference. That was step one toward losing her job for what many outside the South have to view as an absurd firing.
Rejected Questioning

Gork got to fire off one question, but Petrino flatly refused to take anymore questions from Gork as long as she continued to wear her Florida cap. Gork, a graduate from the University of Florida, said she later sent a letter of apology to Petrino.
Twitter Confirmation

Gork said she intended to publicly apologize to Petrino for the cap, but was dismissed before she got the chance.
"Was hoping to publicly apologize to coach Petrino and UA fans on the show today ... but I won't get that chance," Gork wrote on KAKS' Twitter account. "I've been fired."
Employers Reasoning?

KAKS radio general manager Dan Storrs confirmed to the Associated Press that Gork was fired but offered not further detail.
He did go on to say, however, that the radio station is "is Hog Sports Radio. We are very biased. We support the Razorbacks 100 percent."
So biased they do not even allow an employee to root for their own personal preference?
Can you say lawsuit?
