AC Milan: Predicting the Starting 11 for the 2010-2011 Season.
AC Milan is getting ready for new crazy season.
Mr Massimiliano Allegri, the new coach has a lot of problems to deal with.
The biggest problem is that AC Milan board can't afford him new players and he is doomed to work with current roster. Also he will need to motivate this team that didn't won anything since December 2007 ( Fifa Club World Cup). Choosing first XI will also be one of the problems.
Allegri has a predilection for an offensive 4-3-1-2 with a lot of speed and movement. This tactic is similar to Ancelotti's when he started AC Milan big successful era.
This my idea of first 11.
Goalkeeper: Christian Abbiati
1 of 11
Abbiati proved to be a great goalkeeper.
I think he is the first choice in Allegri's vision. He had some amazing saves in AC Milan lately.
But Abbiati had serious injury, on March 15,2009 he suffered ligament damage to his right knee and he was out for about 8 months.
Now he is back and ready for new challenge in Milan.
Abbiati will have serious competetion from new guy, Amelia who was brought from Genoa on loan.
Right Back: Gianluca Zambrotta
2 of 11
This 33 years old full back can be considered as one of the best full backs ever.
The best part is that he can play on both sides: left and right.
He may be old but Zambrotta can still play on the biggest level and he showed some good performances in Milan shirt.
Only Abate could replace Zambrotta on this side because Massimo Oddo past his best and everybody know that. Oddo became really slow and can't even give anything to Milan attack or defense.
Center Back: Alessandro Nesta
3 of 11
Nesta had some serious back problems and that is why he was out for the whole 2008-2009 season.
Without this problems Nesta is for sure the best defender center you will ever see. He proved that to everybody last season when he formed a great defending duo with Thiago Silva.
He is 34 years old but Nesta can help Milan a lot with amazing experience.
Without any problems we can say that Nesta is one of the best defenders today along with big names like: Terry, Chiellini and others....
Nesta is for sure going to be one of the key players in new season, we just hope injuries will avoid him.
Center Back: Thiago Silva
4 of 11
This great Brazilian defender has already been effective in Milan shirt.
Forming great defensive duo with expirienced Nesta was amazing.
Everybody are talking about his occasional runs forward which gave him a lot of sympathies.
Because of his great performances, Real Madrid and Manchester City offered big money for him but AC Milan doesn't want to sell him. Only a crazy offer would see him go from Milan.
Reports said that Man.City offered 40 million € for him.
Left Back: Luca Antonini
5 of 11
Luca changed so many clubs and he spended so many times on loans.
Finally he came back in 2008 but he didn't play a lot. Finally when Leonardo came to AC Milan he gave a chance to Antonini who played really well and earned coaches trust.
Great performances in Milan shirt gave him a call from new Italian coach, Cesare Prandelli but he still didn't have a debut. in Italy shirt.
A lot is expected to be seen from this decent player that can play on both back sides.
Defensive Midfielder: Andrea Pirlo
6 of 11
Pirlo was injured during first two group matches in World Cup but he came back in the last one and everybody could have see how Italy style of the game was much better with him.
Pirlo is the brain of Milan, a head and a tail. He can still do that in Milan. Be the key player that connects everything on the field with accurate passes.
One of the best defensive midfielders will play key role in new season.
Midfielder Center: Massimo Ambrosini
7 of 11
Current AC Milan captain Massimo Ambrosini improved greatly in last few seasons.
He is very good in tackling and in the air. Captain will have a lot of stuff to do in new season and help the team to go high in Serie A.
He is the one that should bring aggressiveness in midfield because AC Milan didn't have that since Gattuso past his prime.
Massimo is 33 years old but he should be able to play on top level.
Midfielder Center: Mathieu Flamini
8 of 11
Flamini still didn't find himself in AC Milan since he came from Arsenal.
Milan fans are still waiting to see him doing great things in their beloved club.
I am pretty sure that this is the last season for Flamini to show why he was one of the best players in Arsenal few years ago. He cam to Milan in summer 2008 on free transfer and still didn't meet expectations.
Flamini should be another midfielder center and go more forward because he was doing that really good in Arsenal where he played his best games.
Attacking Midfielder: Ronaldinho
9 of 11
Ronaldinho was the best AC Milan player last season, no doubts about that.
He had 15 goals and 17 assists in 43 games. His assists were just amazing.
Everybody are talking about, how Ronaldinho is fat but he still can be the key player in Milan.
He may just take a leader role more seriously and things would be better. He is not the same like he was in Barcelona but his magic is still alive.
Expectations are big and Ronaldinho will probably do great again.
Forward: Alexandre Pato
10 of 11
Pato scored 14 in 30 matches but this number would be way higher if he wasn't injured in February.
Pato is ready to impress everybody in new season and I am pretty sure that he will do great job in Serie A and in champions league.
He is one of the best strikers today and we just hope that he will stay in Milan for long time and score many goals!
Pato is for sure going to be our first forward no doubts about that.
Forward: Klaas-Jan Huntelaar
11 of 11
This story is one of the weirdest.
Hutnelaar was brought in AC Milan last summer but Leonardo wanted Luis Fabiano and that must be a reason why Huntelaar spended more time on the bench than on the field.
Huntelaar is a goal machine and he will score many goals but only if you give him the right chance. It is expected that Allegri will give him the right chance.
He scored 7 goals 26 games but the thing is that he was coming from the bench most of the times and this stat is at least decent from the guy that comes from the bench.
His numbers in Ajax are impresisve and I hope he will continue that in Milan but Allegri should act first and give him the right chance.
