PGA Championship 2010 Fantasy Golf Update: Woods, Mahan, Overton, Kuchar

Thomas MorelandAug 14, 2010

Hey. Before I get started, a nice thank you to one of my readers who mentioned he gets fantasy golf picks from me while he was commenting on Nbcsports.com.

He also mentioned we were in the tank this week, but I don't think so.

Tiger salvaged his round today with two birdies. Woods shot an even par 72 today after his minus two for the second round.

The first day, Stricker, O'Hair, Goosen, and Kuchar started. My team gained 38 points in round one, stayed in the 87th percentile, and improved my overall standing for the season.

On Day Two, I brought Tiger off the bench, and that was perfect strategy as Tiger was minus two, while Stricker was carding a six on a par three.

I replaced O'Hair and Goosen with Hunter Mahan and Jeff Overton for round two also.

This worked out alright as Mahan and Overton were one under par. Goosen was four under, but O'Hair was plus three, so that exchange worked out alright.

And, of course, Kuchar was the first and second round leader for good points.

Yahoo! is behind updating the scoring after the second day delays, but I am pretty sure this team continually gains points this weekend.

In Day Three, Tiger, as I said, shot even par, which should get some points, while Mahan was minus three and scoring more as well.

Kuchar lipped putts all day and is managing to card maybe a plus one for today's round if he can finish mistake free.

The last person to hold a four shot lead at the PGA Championship was Greg Norman in 1986. He lost to Bob Tway, chipping in from the sand for birdie to kill Greg Norman's bid for that major title.

Nick Watney will be in control of his own fate tomorrow. If he slips, all these people at minus nine, eight, seven, and even six can slip back into contention to win.

Watney has a problem right now on 18 as I was about to wrap this up tonight.

We will finish this into the clubhouse on Saturday, as we wait to see if Watney gives the field any strokes back at 18.

Tomorrow, I will update any point gain or loss that Yahoo! finally posts and pick next week's players as well for the next tournament at the Wyndham Championship in Greenboro, North Carolina, at Sedgewick Country Club.

Watney has a long par putt, and misses the 30 footer inches short, and has to settle for bogey. Three shot lead is all he has now. Nine ahead of Tiger Woods, and quite a few other good players.

Furyk and McIlroy may have something to say before this is all said and done.

Hang on, fantasy players, we're not dead this weekend.
