Respect for Capello Diminishes
England coach Fabio Capello is fast losing my respect.
When the Italian was appointed England chief in January 2008 I was convinced the former AC Milan gaffer was the best man for the job, but now I'm not so sure.
I firmly believe he is lucky to still be in a job and think the Football Association should have given him the boot after the shambles in the summer, regardless of the cost.
But worse than his efforts at the World Cup are his recent ramblings while in charge of the Three Lions.
His tactics at the World Cup were flawed, but his explanation for the poor showing at the finals and his recent treatment of David Beckham have been unforgiveable. To tell the media that you think Beckham is "too old" before informing the player himself is, at the very least, unprofessional and is reminiscent of the farcical way the squad was named for the World Cup earlier in the summer. Beckham though surely deserves more respect than that. A simple face-to-face conversation with the former England skipper would have done the trick, but Capello seems to have a communication problem with his players. Is it beneath him to speak to his squad?

It certainly appears that way, but a player with in excess of 100 caps at least deserved to know before the tabloid hacks found out at Wembley. Meanwhile, David Beckham has been linked with a move to the Hammers with West Ham's Premier League odds suggesting they need new players to survive.
And as for Capello's "explanation" for England's poor showing it was embarrassing. There was no real apology and then he blamed fatigue and offered the excuse that "everybody makes mistakes". It's not good enough for a pub side, never mind from the England manager.
The only issue is, the next England manager betting indicates there's not really anyone to replace him.
