Washington vs. Texas: Where Will Austin Seferian-Jenkins Commit?
One of the best recruits from Washington has narrowed his list down to two schools; University of Texas and the University of Washington.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins is a 6-foot-7, 245-pound athlete that could play numerous positions. Jenkins played tight end in high school and is projected to play offensive line in college, but he could also play defensive line or stay at tight end.
He recently visited Austin, Texas to visit the University of Texas campus. For quite a while Jenkins has had Texas in his top-five with Washington, and it was narrowed down to those two schools.
And on his recent trip to Austin, Jenkins received a scholarship offer from Texas, which might just make the Longhorns the current leaders in the race for Jenkins.
But don't count out Washington. Jenkins lives in Washington with his mom and he considers his mom's opinion a lot in his decision. Even though he say's his mom can get a job in Texas, it might be easier for them to stay in Washington.
Also, Washington is the hometown school that Jenkins has been watching since he was a little kid and that is definitely appealing to him.
But if I had to pick where Jenkins was going to go I would say as of right now the Texas Longhorns because of how much he enjoyed his recent visit.
Jenkins enjoyed Austin very much and compared it to Washington but just hotter.
Coach Mack Brown and his wife sat down with Jenkins and his mother and offered him a scholarship. The family aspect appealed a lot to Jenkins, and his mother and Jenkins enjoyed it.
Jenkins also said there was no pressure to commit right there and was very happy that there was no pressure.
Jenkins said that they (University of Texas) run a first-class organization with a lot of pride and honesty.
He also said that he loved the coaches and enjoyed spending a lot of time with fellow Texas players Jackson Jeffcoat, Jordan Hicks, and their mothers.
Jenkins seemed to enjoy his visit very much to Texas and plans to announce his commitment on Aug. 16 to either the Longhorns or the Huskies.
