Argentina's Best possible Line up for Copa America
With the World Cup behind us its time for us to look forward to the "New Era" of Argentina football> the team still has a majority of players under the age of 25 thus, giving them plenty of time before the next World Cup. Having said that four years is too far down the line t predict but what we can do is try and have a look at the probable best line up for next years Copa America.
Manager : Sergio Batista

The "care taker" of Argentine football and the temporary manager of the team for now should be allowed to be in charge of the team for at least another year. He has already taken the team to a gold medal in Beijing and has managed most of the current players in youth and first team as a result would be the best man to manage this young team.
Goalkeeper : Sergio Romero

Sergio Romero is a very young keeper and has been under s lot of pressure off late because of his showings in the World Cup. He has still a long way to go and one must understand that for him to improve , he has to be given a lot of time in the game. He was not even registered as a footballer yours years ago. The other options might be the old Abbondanzieri or the Accident prone Mario Andujar.
Right Back : Pablo Zabaleta

One of the biggest snubs of the World Cup. I fail to understand what was Maradona trying to do by first putting Jonas Gutirez there and then the inexperiences Nicolas Otamendi when you have such an experienced player sitting back home. Still only 25 and has a long way to go. It is upto the management to make the best use of his abilities.
Centre Back : Gabriel Milito

One of the most unfortunate players in my opinion. Suffered a career threatening injury in 2007 and took almost two years to get back to professional football. Even though he returned in red hot form for his club FC Barcelona, he was ignored for the world cup squad mainly because he did not play much during the season. Expect him to be back for his national team and would be interesting to see how he rotates his defenders with the aging legs of Puyol and Abidal.
Centre Back : Walter Samuel

The strong defender of Inter Milan should be back for the tournament. Had a very strange world cup. Was injured in the group stages and was reportedly fit for the quarter final but shockingly enough Maradona did not use him.
Left Back : Emiliano Insúa

One of the young defenders who recently moved to Italy. Even though Maradona stuck to old Gabriel Heinze with Clemente Rodrigues as the back up defender, it would be a wise choice to go for the 21 old Insua as this would give him more time in the national team and would be a long term asset to the team.
Defensive Midfield : Javier Mascherano

The Captain of the national team was one of the most impressive players in the team for the World Cup. At the age of 25 he is still young and should carry on the impressive work he has done for the team.
Defensive Midfielder : Éver Banega

One of the young players in the team, the Valencia defensive mid fielder should partner Mascherano in the holding midfield to provide a stability in the defense. Some might argue Fernando Gago's case but i really dont think he has one, he has hardly featured for Real Madrid this season and with Sami Khadiera joining the club, doest look like he is going to get to play much.
Attacking Midfielder : Pablo Aimar

The forgotten hero of Argentine football deserves to be back for another time. Once upon a time, the great Diego Armando Maradona himself said, " Aimar is the only player on earth i would pay to watch". Sadly for him and the team, he forgot his own words and did not call Aimar up for the World Cup. Some might say that he has been plagued with injury through out his career but for a talnt of his caliber, he should be used whenever possible the qualifier against Peru was a classic example of this when he assisted Gonzalo Higuain for the first goal with a sublime pass. At the age of 29, he is the oldest member of the team and it would be unfair on him to be thinking of the world cup this early with Javier Pastore already in the race for position, one must enjoy the show as long as it lasts.
Left Winger : Ezequiel Lavezzi

One of the most gifted players on the planet today was snubbed by Maradona but has been called back by Batista for the friendly. At the age of 25, he has still a lot left in the tank and one must make the best use of this talent. The Napoli Hitman definitely deserves his chance.
Right Winger : Lionel Messi

The FIFA Player of the Year and the best player on the planet at present has been accused of under performing for his country which i feel is absolute disgrace. He was for me one of the players of the World Cup. It is just that Managers are not able to use him efficiently or in Maradona's case depend too much on him when you have players like Aimar and Riquelme sitting back home was like stepping into fire. Batista has managed before and won in Beijing and should deploy his most lethal weapon on the wing and allow him to cut inside.
Central Striker : Carlos Tevez

Carlitoz is one of the favorite players of Argentine public and this is because of his commitment and effort he has made for his team. Was not at his best for the World Cup but even then his presence in the squad is very essential for the team to succeed and with his never say die attitude, he is an asset to the team in every way.
