College football: Ten Biggest Potential Upsets in The Pac-10
With the college football just one month away, there are games to look forward to in the Pac-10 conference.
The coaches poll was released last week and you can bet there are several schools up in arms about whether they're in the poll at all or where they're ranked in said poll. What I'm still trying to understand is why any school cares about a preseason poll that usually isn't accurate anyway.
But, we're not here to complain about an inaccurate poll. What we are here to talk about is the top 10 upsets in the Pac-10 this season. This could be a win for the Pac-10 or the Pac-10 coming out on the losing end of an upset.
We know USC isn't the target they normally are, especially since they are banned from the postseason for the next two years. Teams like Stanford and Oregon are the new "targets" for opponents trying to make a name for themselves.
There are those certain "trap" games that are on the schedule and then there are games that look like easy wins that will be everything but.
Who will end up on the losing end of an upset and who will do the upsetting? Here's the list of the top 10 upsets for the 2010 Pac-10 football season.
Houston at UCLA

The Bruins are on the comeback trail but look out for the buzzsaw that is the University of Houston and quarterback Case Keenum.
Houston 31, UCLA 21
Oregon at Tennessee
2 of 10
The 11th ranked Oregon Ducks will make the trip to Rocky Top to face off against the Tennessee Volunteers and first year head coach Derek Dooley.
I'm somewhat surprised that Oregon is still ranked 11th even after its star quarterback, Jeremiah Masoli, was kicked off the team and eventually transferred to Ole Miss.
Preseason polls are worth as much as the paper it's printed on and that much will be proved when the Vols flex their muscles at home.
Tennessee 27, Oregon 10
Washington at USC
3 of 10
The USC Trojans have gone through more turmoil than a lot of schools would prefer to go through during one offseason. They've lost recruits over it and aren't the team that most expected would take the field this season.
We'll see just how depleted they are when the upstart Washington Huskies and quarterback Jake Locker come to town and silence the Coliseum.
Washington 17, USC 14
Oregon State at UCLA
4 of 10
While Oregon State may be ranked in the top 25 before the season even starts, I don't that it will be when the season is wrapping up and especially not after its trip to The Rose Bowl.
UCLA is finally coming back to respectability under head coach Rick Neuheisel and it'll prove that against Oregon State in early November.
UCLA 27, Oregon State 24
Cal at Nevada
5 of 10
The Western Athletic Conference will be playing its final season before it goes from the "WAC" to "who?"
The Nevada Wolfpack will welcome the Cal Bears in mid-September and will show the Bears why they'll miss Jahvid Best.
Nevada 34, Cal 24
Stanford at Notre Dame
6 of 10
The Stanford Cardinal will travel to South Bend to take on the Golden Domers of Notre Dame in late September.
While the Cardinal are missing running back Toby Gerhart; the Irish are missing quarterback Jimmy Clausen.
However, the Cardinal will have the luck of the Irish in this game with quarterback Andrew Luck.
Stanford 24, Notre Dame 17
Arizona at Washington State
7 of 10
For a Washington State team that won just one game last season, to pull off a win like this against an eight-win Arizona team from last year might be going out on a limb. But that's what makes these kind of predictions fun.
Arizona won this one handily 48-7 last season, but I'm smelling upset.
Washington State 17, Arizona 14
USC at Arizona
8 of 10
After suffering an embarrassing loss to Washington State earlier in the year, Arizona is out for payback and, unfortunately for the Trojans, it'll come at their expense.
Arizona 24, USC 14
Cal at Oregon State
9 of 10
Unfortunately, Cal was yet another victim to a Western Athletic Conference team. But the Bears have been able to figure things out and are having a better than average year.
Then, at the end of October, they face a road trip to face a very good Oregon State team. They want a big win and a big win the Bears will get.
Cal 24, Oregon State 22
UCLA at Kansas State
10 of 10
There are a lot of questions surrounding how UCLA is going to play during the 2010 season. But with a great recruiting offseason, the Bruins will show the college football world just how good they're going to be in 2010.
Right out of the gate, a road to to Manhattan, KS will provide the season opener the Bruins would hope for.
UCLA 31. Kansas State 17
