Jarmon Fortson Dismissed from Florida St. for Failing Multiple Drug Tests

ESPN confirmed that Florida State has dismissed junior receiver Jarmon Fortson from the football team. This was confirmed by head coach Jimbo Fisher.

Bet Mania has Florida St. listed as one of the favorites to win the ACC. Bet Mania has them listed with a win total over/under of 8 and the Top Ten Sportsbooks have them listed as 100-1 underdogs to win the BCS Championship.

These odds can change as Jarmon Fortson is the second player to be dismissed from the team.

Last month, linebacker Nigel Carr was arrested. Carr, who was named the team’s most reliable linebacker, has been indefinitely suspended from the team.

Losing Fortson is another tough blow to the Seminole offense. Last year he was the Seminoles’ third-leading receiver last season, finishing with 45 catches for 610 yards with four touchdowns.

This year he was projected to have even better numbers as an impact player on the Florida St. offense.

ESPN cites sources that have revealed that the reason Fortson was dismissed from the team for failing more than one drug test.

Fisher and the rest of the coaching staff wished future success to Fortson, but it is very evident that he will not be at Florida St. next year.

Quarterback Christian Ponder loses a member of his arsenal on offense.  Fortson was going to provide Ponder with a big target that would be extremely useful in the Red Zone.

The hits keep coming for Florida St. in the off season. The key will be how they respond to this adversity. They will either band together to have a great year, or it could impact how the players react to the coaches.

Only time will tell.
