Fernando Torres, Cesc Fabregas To Be Involved In Titanic EPL Clashes

Spanish stars Cesc Fabregas and Fernando Torres are set to be involved in titanic duels representing Arsenal and Liverpool respectively. Both have been the subject of transfer speculation throughout the summer, but it looks like the English Premier League will retain two of its most famed superstars.

 

Fernando Torres commits to Liverpool

'El Nino' has committed to Liverpool for the coming season, also terming Liverpool as the "biggest club in England." Liverpool is a club with great history and fans will be buoyed when they see Fernando Torres don the No. 9 Liverpool shirt. Torres will look to put his injury troubles behind him and help Liverpool mount a successful challenge.

Liverpool, now under Englishman Roy Hodgson, have already got the better of Arsenal in signing the talented Joe Cole and will look to start their season on a high. Steven Gerrard has also committed to Liverpool and the club are on the rise following their dismal season last year.

It would be a stupendous performance from Liverpool if they could scale the heights, which they are capable of. Liverpool fans would have been apprehensive at the end of the season that Torres might leave them to join a more financially stable club. But Torres has not deserted his club and still has a lot of respect for the Liverpool badge.

Fernando Torres is not a player who switches sides very often. He came to Liverpool, from his beloved Atletico Madrid, harbouring ambitions of winning the biggest prizes in club football. Unfortunately, he has not achieved it so far, but he remains a loyal servant to the club.

Torres has rejected advances from Chelsea and Manchester City, and has chosen to help out Liverpool FC in its time of crisis. Torres is a clear example of the fact that not every player is lured by extravagant wages. His love for Liverpool FC has clearly made him commit to Liverpool.

Torres has been dogged by injury troubles in the past year. It is imperative that Liverpool take some load off him because he carries the burden of millions of fans. Liverpool have not yet secured a proper replacement for Torres and his injury troubles have certainly hampered the team.

Torres is the lone striker and possesses great technical and aerial ability; he is one of the most feared strikers in the world. He also has to play the bulk of the matches because there is no reliable cover for him in his role. Liverpool FC would do well to lift the pressure on him by making a few new signings.

If Liverpool are to do great this season, much hinges on Torres' fitness and if he can stay fit for the majority of the season. If so, there is a good possibility that he could haul them back to their rightful place in the big four.

 

Will The Cesc Fabregas Speculation Ever End?

Cesc Fabregas had been speculated to move to Barcelona throughout the summer. He has not yet quashed these rumours, but he has not made any public statement wanting a move away from Arsenal.

Fabregas joined Arsenal at the age of 16 and has developed into one of the finest players in the Premiership under the astute tutelage of Arsene Wenger. Fabregas has a lot of respect for Arsene Wenger and Arsenal gave him everything when he wore the Arsenal kit.

He has been linked to a move to Barcelona because of Arsenal failing to win any major trophy for the past five years; and Barcelona have played their part in unsettling Arsenal's young captain.

However, Barcelona's evaluation of Fabregas does not do justice to his worth and Arsene Wenger and Arsenal have been stubborn not to be bullied by Barcelona or involve themselves in transfer negotiations regarding their captain.

Recently, Pep Guardiola has said that he still has not given up hope of signing Fabregas this summer, but the transfer looks highly improbable considering Arsenal's unwillingness to sell the player and the financial crisis that Barcelona seems to be facing at the moment.

Barcelona and their players/manager continue to make statements about a player who is contracted to a club, which is not ready to sell their prized asset. Arsenal's Denilson has hit back at Barcelona's dirty tactics to sign Cesc Fabregas.

If Arsenal are to end their trophy drought, their captain Cesc Fabregas has to step up and fire them to the title. At the moment, it looks increasingly likely that he will stay at Arsenal. 

 

Come August 15, Will Fabregas and Torres play against each Other?  

If Cesc Fabregas does stay, which is likely, then the transfer sagas regarding Torres and Fabregas signify some important things for the world of football.

Arsenal refusing to be drawn to negotiations with Barcelona regarding their captain shows that not every club needs to give in to public antics from the Spanish clubs. Arsenal maintains Cesc Fabregas has five years on his contract and that they have no need to sell.

On the other hand, Fernando Torres' rejection of big-money moves to Chelsea and Manchester City signifies, importantly, that not every player is lured by lucrative contracts. There are still a lot of decent players who love the club and will support it in its time of need. 

Fernando Torres has committed his future to Liverpool, but it is still unknown if he can recover completely from the injury he sustained in the World Cup and face competitors, Arsenal, in their first match of the season.

Cesc Fabregas has been given an extended break by Arsenal and he will not have played any pre-season games before their opener at Anfield. It is still not known if Wenger will risk him in their first match or if he will start him for the opener at Anfield.

Even though the participation of both these leaders seem to be in question, the game at Anfield will be a fabulous battle between two clubs, both of which have history and honour on their side.
