With Shon Coleman and Jeremy Richardson likely to resign from last years class this is a list of current verbal commitments. This is 13 of 25 slots filled. Let’s take a look at the positions.

Quarterback

  • Auburn was expected to take one in this class and they landed a good one.

Offensive Line

  • Auburn is expected to take five offensive linemen.
  • One center and that slot is filled
  • Two guards and one slot is filled
  • Two tackles and one slot is filled
  • Auburn will lose five to graduation at these positions.

Prospects

There are others but these are certainly in the running.

Offensive Athlete

Auburn has three possible wide receivers committed. They will likely sign one more true wide receiver as well as two tight end/h-back types. Two running backs are also essential this year.

The team will lose three of its players to graduation and another possibly to the NFL.

Prospects

If Auburn takes five out of this grouping it will complete the offensive slots available and push the number of slots filled for this class to 20; five slots still remain.

Defensive Line

Auburn was projected to take six in this area and three of those slots are filled. The team will lose four of its defensive line to graduation and maybe another to the NFL.

Prospects

Linebacker

Auburn was projected to take three prospects in this area. Two from these positions will be lost to graduation this year and two of these potential slots are already taken.

Defensive Back

Auburn is projected to take six defensive backs in this class. Three players in these positions will be lost to graduation, while two slots for this position have already been filled.

Prospects

The projected numbers add up to 30 total, but Auburn will only take 28 in accordance with NCAA ruling.  With only 25 scholarships available, usually one or two don't meet academic requirements for eligibility.

Auburn will have the full 25 slots available within the 85 total scholarship limit due to graduation this year.

Some prospects linger on the fringes and may be considering Auburn at this time. There is a possibility for them to move into the picture, but only if there are slots left at their position.

Keep in mind, a lot of the recruits aforementioned have family ties to Auburn and could have an advantage over competition for a slot.
