Adriano Galliani- "This Is The Team"

Tim FontenaultJul 25, 2010

Adriano Galliani has dropped the curtain on AC Milan's summer.

The club's vice president revealed today that the club will not be making anymore changes, unless a player leaves the San Siro, as Milan prepare for the 2010/2011 campaign, during which they will compete in Serie A, Coppa Italia, and the UEFA Champions' League.

"The market is closed, assuming no one departs, this is the team," he stated.

"If someone does leave, then someone will come. If a small part then a little reinforcement, if medium an average one, and if a champion leaves than a champion will arrive. But I think this will be our squad."

Milan have brought only three players into the squad for this season. Mario Yepes was the first addition. The 34 year old left Chievo Verona to fulfill, what he called, a dream of playing for AC Milan. Milan's other buy was 25 year old Sokratis Papastathopolous. The Greek international joined from Genoa after an impressive domestic season and World Cup. Milan also went to Genoa for goalkeeper Marco Amelia, who joins the club on a season long loan with an option to buy.

No notable members of the squad left this offseason, despite Ronaldinho, Pato, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, and Gennaro Gattuso being heavily linked with moves abroad.

Milan have recently denied claims that Huntelaar would be joining Liverpool in exchange for Ryan Babel as Il Corriere dello Sport reported this week.

Galliani also confirmed today that Ronaldinho will not be leaving the club, despite speculation arising again over the past several days. This time around, the Los Angeles Galaxy seemed on the verge of acquiring the Brazilian with West Ham United and longtime courters Flamengo also interested. Galliani defiantly denied any claims.

"He is a Milan player, we will not give him up, the hypothesis should not even be considered."

"He has never asked to be transferred. He will remain at Milan next season and I hope even longer."

Milan begin preseason play tonight against Varese without five players. Ronaldinho, Oguchi Onyewu, Gianluca Zambrotta, Andea Pirlo, and Gennaro Gattuso will not be in uniform tonight.
