Arsenal Transfer Prospects: Is Wenger Wrong To Sell Eduardo da Silva?
With the summer transfer window well and truly ajar, players are currently in the midst of deciding their futures. Many big names have already made switches and the trend is set to continue in the coming weeks.
Now rumours suggest that Arsenal striker Eduardo Da Silva will sign with Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk for £ 6 million in the coming days.
The Croatian striker, who was born in Brazil, joined Arsenal in 2007 as a replacement for Theirry Henry. But mid way through his début for the Gunners, Eduardo was the victim of an ugly challenge from Birminghan City's Martin Taylor. The tackle left the former Dinamo Zagreb sharpshooter with a broken left fibula and an open dislocation of his left ankled.

Fortunately Eduardo returned to the field for the Gunners in February 2009. Sadly, despite recovering physically from his injuries, the 27-year-old has failed to rediscover his former form as well as his once keen eye for goal.
Fans and critics felt that "Dudu's" time was running out at the Emirates and felt a departure was inevitable. However, it is believed Wenger was eager to keep his No. 9, but with Donetsk offering similar wages and the opportunity of more consistent playing time in a less physical arena, Eduardo felt he could not pass up such an opportunity.
But will Wenger regret his loss?
Although the Croatian had a torrible 2009/2010, it was his first full season since his leg injury. Now Eduardo has sufficient experience and can now begin to grow in confidence and hopefully return to his former self.
Blessed with devastating speed, a venomous shot and the rare ability to be super calm when confronted one on one with the keeper, Eduardo has a tendency to be a real handful for defenders.
No doubt he will thrive better in the Ukraine, but is this a mistake for Wenger?
