Seantrel Henderson: Miami Hurricanes, Miami Heat Putting Hurt on Ohio
When it rains, it pours.
Or in the case of South Florida, the heat continues on.
A colleague of mine posted "Ohio State stole the crown in 2002, Miami steals the king in 2010" on Facebook following LeBron James' announcement to play for the Heat.
On Friday, Seantrel Henderson was released from a letter of intent without restrictions by the University of Southern California following the NCAA scandal.
Now, he will give the Hurricanes a try.
Also in the running for the talented 330-pound offensive lineman from St. Paul were the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Yes, the same team that Miamians claim stole the 2003 BCS title game in Tempe, Ariz. at the Fiesta Bowl.
When the Hurricanes and Buckeyes face off in a Sept. 11 matchup at the Horseshoe, the freshman will experience big-time college football at its best. He might also get added pressure from the defensive line he would've faced in practice.
The state of Ohio and the city of Miami are slowly becoming rivals since James decided to leave the Cavaliers and join the Heat. Henderson, a top recruit choosing to play on South Beach, doesn't help matters.
Let the hate spread throughout the Sunshine State.
Surely, Ohio State must already resent the Florida Gators. Twice in 2007 the orange and blue defeated the Buckeyes in a title game: the BCS Championship and NCAA National Men's Basketball Championship.
That came in a span of about four months.
James and Henderson took less than 24 hours.
Yet, what's great about all of this is the competition that will take place on the field and on the court. Great story lines will be beaten into our brains by ESPN and local media. Bragging rights will win out.
Thanksgiving Day could feature the Cavs and the Heat in a tumultuous matchup at Quicken Loans Arena.
Until that all happens, let the trash talking commence.
