Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
SP. Ubaldo Jimenez
Quick Take: Charlie Manuel lucked out by having seven righties in the starting lineup. That will be helpful in the first couple of innings against LHP David Price.
I would have maybe flip-flopped Prado and Ramirez at the top of the order, but other than that the lineup should be as is. I also think that if you are going to have a left-handed first baseman as your DH, then it should have been Joey Votto, not Howard.
But Howard is Manuel’s guy, so no surprise he got the start.
American League
1. Ichiro, RF
2. Derek Jeter, SS
3. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
4. Josh Hamilton, CF
5. Vladimir Guerrero, DH
6. Evan Longoria, 3B
7. Joe Mauer, C
8. Robinson Cano, 2B
9. Carl Crawford, LF
SP. David Price
Quick Take: Mauer-Cano-Crawford as the seven-eight-nine hitters? This lineup is so deep, it is beyond scary.
I would have swapped Cano with Longoria as Cano is having the better year, but like with the NL, really can’t complain with the structure of the lineup.
In other All Star Game notes, Boston Red Sox 3B Adrian Beltre is out of the game and Texas Rangers 3B Michael Young has been added. Also added to the team were Justin Verlander and Andrew Bailey.
CC Sabathia and Trevor Cahill needed to be replaced because they pitched on Sunday. It’s really a stupid rule, but it is what it is.
