World Cup 2010: A Crucial Win for the History and the Destiny of Football
As Spain was one of the favorites before the WC, only some of the authorities believed they would make the final after the defeat in the first game. They were solved, as Mourinho did to Barcelona.
What they did not take into account was that, Spain's model produces the solutions itself.
After the Swiss defeat and Honduras win -remember Del Bosque's unhappy looks- they made some corrections in the defense, but never ceased to play the same model, which is set by Barca and Johann Cruyff.

At the beginning, win against Chile -one of the best teams in the tournament- was underestimated. Then win against Portugal -a team that could easily reach semi finals- was in shadows of Germans' victory over England.
No one cared that Spain played the best football of the tournament in the dramatic second half of Paraguay game.
And at the end, when they have beaten Germans, it was a surprise for most of the authorities. Not the score, but Spanish domination.
Spain's Cup victory is a big benefit for football. They showed the world, one more time that joyful, attacking and aesthetic play brings a satisfying result. Much more than the forgettable championships won by defensive teams.
For me, Spain played better than 2008. They were more fragile and less "team" two years ago. And their rivals were not as strong as today. Especially the Germans, Oranges, and there were no South Americans.
This time they passed the ball quicker and right way by the support of new Barca members in the national team. Villa was better. Iniesta was better. Only Torres lost his coordination and was out of form. But Del Bosque did not want to neglect him. Cruyff, however, a few times mentioned that Llorente was a better choice.
Coming to Netherlands.. I always believed that they would play beautiful when they match with the big teams. They were in control. They were patient. They knew how to win. In the second half of Brasil game, when they had nothing left to lose, they were transformed into the team of 2008. Result was perfect.
However, they were in control again in the semi finals. More than before. They were slower and they changed their style to win only with the individual skills of Robben and Sneijder. And they were nearly losing the game.
That was the first time they became antipathetic.
The second time was the needless explanations of Robben before the final. In which he stated that "they prefer ugly win to beautiful defeat". It was a kind of humiliation to the Dutch team of 70s and Spanish team of today.
And the third time was during the final. The practice of Robben's words. When Villa was fouled and injured on their half and Spanish players sent the ball out to stop the game. Dutch players sent the ball to the corner flag of Spanish half and went there to press the Spanish players.
In the name of fair play! Really ugly. It was a betrayal to the love of millions for Orange.
Dutch side played right, indeed. They put pressure on Spanish midfield. Especially to the players less skillful with the ball. They tried to have possession. To help this, Sneijder stayed back and played physically more than technically. He was the best of Dutch team.
But they have committed too many fouls. And with a little provocation they succeeded to depart Spanish lines for a long time.
Their real problem was the substitutions. When the coach changed defensive and strong Kuyt with attacking but weaker Elia, Navas started to dominate the right wing. Maybe the coach tought to put Navas back by Elia's attacking capability. But he was wrong.
After a while, he substituted strong De Jong with Van der Vaart, but Van Bommel was the one to be taken out as he was not effective. Then Iniesta started to penetrate too much. At the end, he caused a red card and he scored.
Coming to referee. Whatever FIFA told to the referees before the WC, I think each of the referees undertood different things! There were too many and needless yellow cards. But he missed a red card for De Jong after the Kung Fu kick to Xabi and a second yellow card to Puyol when he stopped Robben.
For Iniesta.. There are too many things to say for him. I am not sure, if Messi was in Spanish team last night, he would play as good as Iniesta. He showed every bit of his heart, his talents and his genius....
