LeBron James Rumor: The King's Brand Will Never Be the Same in Miami
I don't care how appealing a team of Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and LeBron James is. The fact of the matter is if LeBron decides to make the move to Miami, whatever he does there will be tarnished in my mind.
He considers himself one of the greatest players in basketball history, yet he has to leave his hometown to play with fellow stars Wade and Bosh?
Real nice LeBron. Go on national television and just stick it to the city of Cleveland; the city that gave you everything in the first seven years of your career.
The possibility of LeBron James as legendary icon status to rival that of Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant will be completely out the window, no matter what he accomplishes.
Does LeBron fear not having enough talent to win an NBA title by himself? It's something that you have to take a hard look at.
Jordan had Scottie Pippen and Kobe had Shaq. Dwyane Wade already has one ring, but Chris Bosh has never won a playoff series. It's important to remember that there isn't going to be a lot of money to spend elsewhere if the Heat have three near-max contracts on the books.
The rumors and speculation has been running rampant. Two days ago it looked as if Miami would be lucky to have Wade back, now Pat Riley's "pie in the sky" is going to go from a joke by Bosh to a reality in a matter of hours.
Sure, LeBron could have a last minute change of heart. After all, if he leaves Cleveland on these terms, it is safe to say that city is never going to forgive him for how he went out.
James going to Miami to play on Wade's team, in my mind, is stunning. James is obviously talented enough to win wherever he goes. But what's his ultimate purpose? Maybe he wants to shatter the Bulls record of 72-10. Then again, isn't it about winning championship rings?
I think this trio has had this scenario in their mind since they played on the Olympic team. They saw how dynamic they were together and organized a plan of action to make this a reality.
Riley is the true genius and winner if this actually happens tonight. To orchestrate these three salaries into a salary cap is beyond me. The evil empire would now be located on South Beach—forget the Yankees.
I don't think I will ever be able to look at LeBron James' brand the same if he is the last piece to this trifecta in Miami. I just can't do it.
Go to New York, Chicago, or even go back to Cleveland. Anything but this scenario. Why go join the other two top free-agent studs of this same class?
Carmelo Anthony is waiting right around the corner to play with you in New York next season. Any team but the Miami Heat.
It all comes down to tonight. On national television in Greenwich, Connecticut, you're going to have a national audience glued to your attention. A stones-throw away from New York, it's the ultimate decision for which we've all been waiting.
The clock is ticking LeBron. Don't disappoint tonight when you let the world know where you decide to play as you enter the prime of your career.
It's time for LeBron James to take off the mask and reveal where his allegiance truely stands.
