LeBron James: Ego Too Big for Miami?

Collin O'ConnorJul 7, 2010

Earlier this week, Lebron James finally set up his long awaited Twitter account under the name, "King James."

I know the media insists on calling him that, but would Michael Jordan ever have done something so immature?

Sure, Jordan had his signature "Air Jordan" persona, but if Twitter had been alive then, his name would have been, well, Michael Jordan.

That is the difference between Jordan and "King James."

When it comes down to it, the MJ comparisons have gotten to James. He wants to be known as the "second coming," or this era's Worldwide star. However, signing with Miami would be a huge mistake if that is indeed his goal.

If he were to sign with Miami, fans and the media would always look back at his career and say, "Well, he had Bosh and Wade with him."

While it might not seem like a big deal, it is to James.

When you think of Michael Jordan, you think of the Bulls. With James, I think he'll want the Cavs to be his legacy.

Lebron James doesn't just want to win more NBA Finals than Jordan. He wants to have as great a career as him.

If he moves, it shows that his project in Cleveland was a failure. He could never get them over the top and into the white house to meet the Presidentof the United States as champions.

Finally, stats matter. If James wants to be a top scorer when he retires, he cannot play with Wade in Miami.

With Bosh getting a lot of touches during the games and Wade controlling the ball, he won't be getting the opportunities he has been during his career so far.

What if Wade makes the game winning shot in game seven of the Finals and wins MVP?

For me, it's kind of like Kobe Bryant.

He had to win another title to show that it wasn't all because of Shaquille O'Neal. James would have to do the same.

That's why Lebron James will always play for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
